Well....I had the GT strut brace and I now have a front and rear cusco strut brace. I think you made a wise choice. Since the GT strut brace is certainly better than nothing and you'll notice a difference but if you don't mind spending 200 on a brace then get the cusco one. I love it

it prevents the frame of your car from bending. Not like....REALLY bending but it stabilizes the frame of the car when turning and stuff. I noticed a big difference with mine.

the Gt one will fit, the GT4 one is near the same bu thas a small plate on it to attach to a mount on the engine block. None of the 1.8 models had one as standard or as an option. Basically it eliminates body roll, you can throw it into corners a bit more.. if you fit the rear strut brace from a GT4.. even more grin inducing. The strut braces that are Stock from Mr.T will fit all Gen 6 models. Nigel, a rear brace will cost you about £50 from a breakers n the uk - if they have one. |

Just a note that the stock GT brace is not strong at all. I took mine off to put the Jspeed one in and if you hod it out it bends tword the ground. I actually bent it in half and just tossed it into the trash. I highly doubt it does anything for handleing at all. I say just get a after market one.

I've got one on my GT, not sure if US is the same as UK but it's a tubular construction....tubes aren't very strong if you try and bend them perpendicular to their length, but they are very strong in compression and even more so in tension, the latter two being the role as a strut brace. I think you'd be suprised how strong they are, Toyota, cunning feinds that they are will have fitted that design with weight as a consideration also. Just thought I'd point that one out, out of interest was the new one you fitted heavier then the Toyota item?? Regards BJA |
