I've been talking a lot about it, but have failed to show you guys anything. My apologies. I'll catalog and keep updates to my interior work, as well as take feedback, suggestions, and criticism here.

The whole thing (minus radio lights - took this photo when it was still not working, and dome light)




Gauges - Painted needles on the right to test out how they would look before redoing all of them. Replaced green turn signals w/ red plastic. Clear White LED's behind for the gauges.

All in all I am pretty pleased so far. I have run into some issues, but save for the radio failure - nothing catastrophic.

I've got LEDs in the center console vents (goes to a switch I built into the center console - not shown in any of the pictures), in the coin collector next to the cigg lighter. Took the ugly green casing off of the cigg lighter bulb to make it white. White LEDs behind the gauges, red painted needles, red turn signals, and cathode ray tubes in the footwells (goes to a switch under the steering wheel).


I have the overhead light replaced with a red bulb, but its blown atm.



My next projects (in no particular order)

• Replace the LED in the window switch w/ a red one.
• Fix my ECU/ECM issue
• Rewire Fogs to stay on w/ high beams, and turn on w/o lows (more of an external mod)
• New Speakers (preferably w/ some kind of red lighting) for the front and back
• Red LEDs in the doorhandles (both inside and out)
• Wire courtesy door lights to stay on w/ a switch to illuminate the backseat floor as well (prolly tie into the footwell switch)

If anyone has any suggestions or tips for where I can get lighted speakers at a decent price, I would really appreciate it.
Also - I haven't looked at a schematic for the door lights just yet, but I may just put another bulb in their so I don't muck with the existing circuit anymore. Suggestions there would help too.

Bestbuy for lighted speakers, when I had my 240 I had lighted blue 6x9s they were bright and awesome lol I think I paid 60$ each or something.

I don't fancy myself much of an audio guy, but from what I've read, swapping speakers doesn't seem too terribly difficult, is it? I don't feel like paying some palefaced kid from BBY to do the install, nor take it to the guys who did my radio (they don't seem to like me much for some reason haha)

The painted needles on your cluster look good, make sure you post a pic when you paint the rest of them. What sort of paint did you use?

Will do guys, thanks for the interest. It will happen later this coming week after the 4th. I am between Summer I and Summer II sessions and just about done with Summer I finals, so I'll have the time.

tbh - I tried an acrylic paint that I had lying around at first, but that didn't work too well (didn't let enough light through) so I removed it. Currently it is literally just red sharpie (but that'll be our little secret). Works fantastically surprisingly enough and lets just enough light through.

Nope. I never did a write-up, maybe I should...but it's pretty easy. Order from Crutchfield.com and they'll send you everything needed to put new speakers in, save for the adapter bracket for the front. Those need to be ordered online. I got mine from ebay, although I don't remember where.

don get them from crutchfield!! tooo expensive! go to techronics.com best site to buy speakers, subs, amp, tvs etc compare their price with crutchfield and youll surprise! i bought my alpine 6.5 speakers there.. fast shipping and cheapper than anywhere!

for some people the difficult part is to install the amps... how to install the ground cable, 12v cable, remote, rca cables etc... to install an amp you might need some instructions cuz is a lil bit hard.... but if just gonna replace the speakers... you dont need any instructions.. just connect the + and - thats all...

and if you need the installation guide you can get them online on crutchfield. you can even print them---->

conclusion... i saved $60 for speakers, $120 for the subs, $182 for the amp total of $362..just buying stuff in the right place.. and there are some other stuff that i bought too..like my head unit, tweeters, 4 channel amp..

buy them from there and get the installation kit on crutchfield

Before you go buying new speakers, wait! There's an easy solution to this without compromising your sound quality - I wouldn't trust lighted speakers for good sound quality unless they were made by a major audio manufacturer.

Streetglow sells bendable led strips you can put inside your door cards where the speakers go to light up wherever you want. If you want them to beat to music, you can hook them up to the music interface they sell - much like the Kia Soul - and it'll be less expensive than $60/speaker.

I did consider that, but wasn't sure about where to find a constant 12V source behind the speaker. All of my audio equipment is stock right now save for the radio, and I had planned on putting in new speakers anyway, but if just adding some bendable strips would be easier then hell point me in the right direction.

Solder any connections to your cigarette lighter - since they're led strips, you can be sure it won't draw too much and blow your fuse. You can hide any connections by running the wiring through with the door harness, around behind your carpeting under the dash, and right up to the lighter.

Actually, I just took a look at SG's site - http://www.streetglow.com/ANMI2?sc=2&category=10 It looks like the music interface draws power and supplies power to all the accessories you connect to it, since it's a fused connection. You'd just hide your wiring the same way - if you wanted a professional look, drill a small hole in your dash behind the box and run the wires up through there. Easy, lighted speakers with more functionality than just glowing.
