bodykits=rice nowadays?, im torn... Options

whats up guys, was wanting some opinions on bodykits. they look great if done right, but im beginning to wonder if theyre worth it anymore... i guess the scene has grown up and alot of people arent doing these bulky kits anymore, and IMO theyre starting to look ricey to me. (not to mention that after test fitting i dont think the boomer sides will fit properly on my coupe)

i currently have the 404 lip and boomer sides along with rear splitters for my coupe. Im beginning to seriously consider either not putting a kit on at all and selling my stuff or trading my front lip and skirts for some front splitters and stock side skirts.

what do ya'll think? is the body kit going the way of vinyl graphics? im inclined to agree.

the only body kit i want would be a lip kit for my car. i was never a big fan of the big body look. clean subtle lines is the way to go. IMO

Same.

I only have front and rear splits on mine, and some skirts are coming as well. Never been a big fan of any large kits, even when it was the IN thing.

Honestly it depends on the body kit you get, I'm a fan of front and rear splitters with side skirts and lowered... That's just me, but that one that some people have that makes the front look like a spaceship and there car can fly I think is hideous. But everyone has there own opinions.

There are quite a few good full body kits that actually look good. Of course this being said they have to be properly mounted on & painted to match the car. Sure body kits today are so 5+ years ago. A lot of people are still into them. For me full body kits add more weight and disturb the curves of a OEM car. In my opinion "The Fast & furious" series is what killed it. After that movie came out every one had crazy body kits. To much, that it burnt out the scene before it's time. That's when the JDM look started coming about. Now and days full body kits are frowned upon, hence the term "ricer" It's funny cause people call body kitted cars ricers, but the older American car buffs call all Japanese cars "ricers" or "rice burners". Just like everyone else I'm into the clean OEM tastefully done type set ups. Not cause everyone else is into it, but cause it just looks better and cleaner. It's worse enough the 6th gen Gt-4 (all trac) was not released here. So most of us try to make replicas and the few lucky ones with money to throw away import the real mc coys. In my opinion I would go for the OEM lip kits and splitters. Only cause they make the car look to its full potential & @ the same time saves on weight. Much less to paint and much easier to install.

In the end all that matters is your vision of you car. If I was into body kits. Then thats what my car would have. I wouldn't care who or what thought of it. Its your hard earned cha ching. It's what it takes to finally give you that smile when you staring at your finished creation. HAHA but most people here including me will tell you to go JDM OEM!!!! I did!! & I LOVE IT!!!!!

Yes its true that less people are driving with extreme body kits but not because body kits died off. Cars that had body kits are dying off. People are buying newer cars with body styling on them such as "aero package" offered by the dealership. But you are so used to seeing 0920920392039203920392039 cars so you stop paying attention to the fact that most of them have a body kit of some sort and thus by comparison it is hard to figure out what is what.

From left to right you see a car that arrives at a dealership and depending on size of person's wallet it gets to look closer and closer to what car on the far right is. Same car.. dealer option styling.. something that was not "hip" just short 10 years ago. Heck 10 years ago if they offered dealer package on shiny lug nuts you were in business.

thanks guys, i was already leaning to not put it on, definately looking for an oem look, though
