i tried adjusting the idle with the little allen screw, the idle would increase but it would still dip to 600-530 rpm and the engine would start to rattle.....is there any way i can adjust it so it wont dip anymore?
TIA

is this a swapped engine? in manila, there are a few shops who do engine swaps with the right wiring. a usual sign for this is erratic idling. if you know where autotech is, try to have them check the wiring.

yes sir im in manila =),yes its a swap,i got the engine complete with the ecu tranny and uncut wiring....yesterday i cleaned the TB and the ISC,my lowest dip would be 690 (improved)
i noticed the 3sge doesnt have an idle screw compared to the 3sgtes,the 3sge ecu seems to be controlling the idle

from what i know, the 3sge has an idle screw but it's for the adjustment when the a/c is on.

btw, when does the rpm dip... during hard braking?

since its a swap, things to do
run it in diagnosis mode to see any problems pop up. check the NA sticky thread on how to do this.

I'd also have a quick check on the MAP sensor, are the wires and hose connected properly and hose not split?

just a correction on my previous post and i got what you mean.

you are referring to the adjustment near the ISC, right?

from what i know, when you adjust the idle from there, the ecu will try to correct it thought the ISC sensor. so, eventually it will be back to its original settings. someone told me that you can adjust it little by little until such time the ECU cannot compensate.

but my question is still the same. why does it dip? did you do any cam adjustment or swap?

i suggest you do what Rusty said.

btw, i'm just curious with almost the same question as the thread starter.

is there a way to adjust the idle and not allow the ecu to compensate?

in addition, what would be the pros and cons if idle is adjusted through the accelarator cable?

i was thinking that the box won't adjust if it will be done this way.
