I purchased the motor mount inserts from kirkosaurus and installed the front only so far as i have not had a chance to do the rear yet. With the front installed it causes a vibration at idle which is more then before ( yes i know it can cause this) My question however is, is it safe having the extra vibration? will it cause damage to anything or premature wear?
Thanks all!! Ps: Even with just the fron ton the car feels so much more responsive and tighter. no hesitation when you push the gas anymore just smooth sailing. I would highly recomend to anyone thinking about these. |

The shaking will cause some bolts to come loose and things to rattle, but its easy to just tighten them down. I've placed a bunch of felt pads in places to stop vibrations, but it still shakes and won't cause any serious damage.

Thank you for your quick reply. It's not going to cause bolts of any importance to come loose correct? I believe they should all be tight enough it would not effect them? I dont care about stupid little bolts needing to be re tightened i just dont want to have to be concerned for my safety if you feel what im saying.

I know what you are saying. It shouldn't cause anything to come completely loose as long as you torque everything down good in the first place and keep an eye on it, at least I've never heard of anything horrible happening from this shaking. Most people just don't like the shaking themselves, but I don't mind it.

What you need to worry about with loose mounts is the exhaust system. My dad had a shop do a engine replacement to his car, they didn't tighten the mounts properly..long story short the engine literally flipped sideways breaking the exhaust manifold...so tighten them up!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up but I always make sure I tighten things back up. I had a wheel fall off at 70 due to a dumb mistake on my part a year ago, that was very scary ha never again!

Haha very smart! Did you tighten them down with a torque wrench or just a ratchet??

The motor mounts or wheels? lol wheels no torque wrench just tighten and re check a week later, motor mounts just ratchet although i have a torque wrench and can check if needed.
The wheel issue though was because i used aftermarket wheels with the stock lugs. that was my own dumb mistake ha |

I'd reccomend a torque wrench when bolting things down that you probably won't access for awhile. When I went to replace my rear mount, the 17mm bolt that goes through the mount was gone! I don't know if the motor was pulled before I had it and someone forgot to torque it down and it came loose, if it just came loose, or if it just wasn't put back, but one way or another it caused my mount to crack. Lesson to be learned, just spend the extra minute, grab a torque wrench, and torque the important bolts..

These mounts rock. I have ran them all season in my race car and they do the job and sometimes the tracks are like corn fields. Two thumbs up. The back one is kind of a bitch to get in does the job well.
