Hiya folks...having seen this question asked a few times. I have been busy customising/restoring my Celica so put together a DIY with pictures to help.
1. Remove door weatherstrip. ![]() 2. Weatherstrip end clips to be removed...a sealant glue may also be used on the ends but easily removed. ![]() 3. Using clip tool to pop off clips...screwdriver works as well. ![]() 4. Weatherstrip removal exposes screws to be removed next. ![]() ![]() ![]() 5. Door edge trim removed. ![]() 6. Top window edge removed. ![]() 7. Removing seat belt top...flip up cover to expose bolt to be removed. ![]() ![]() 8. Removing coat hanger...pop off cover to expose a screw to be removed. ![]() ![]() 9. Remove speaker grill to expose screw to be removed. ![]() ![]() 10. Remove door lip trim and push interior trim off door edge. ![]() ![]() 11. Pull interior trim out a little to expose a philips headed plastic clip to be removed. ![]() 12. In boot area behind seat there is another philips headed clip to be removed. ![]() 13. Now you pull off the interior window trim off...held in by several clips...take your time. ![]() ![]() 14. Continue to pull trim off completely...place out of way for window removal. ![]() ![]() 15. Tape up the outside of window to avoid breaking it. ![]() 16. Using an extendable knife of good quality. ![]() ![]() 17. Cut into window sealant...go around the whole window. This will take a while...you will feel the blade hit metal once you are through all the way. ![]() ![]() 18. Quarter window and trim removed. ![]() ![]() 19. It is quite surprising how much sealant is used on these windows... ![]() Grab yourself a cold drink...job done! This post has been edited by CelicaHD2: Oct 12, 2010 - 3:51 PM |

I used the same knife I used for cutting out the window and cut off most of the sealant...then used a razor blade to trim to further down.
You can buy "sealant removing" chemicals or a rubber "decal removing" wheel but is not necessary. As long as you have no more than 3mm of sealant left...that is perfect for re-fitting of the glass. This post has been edited by CelicaHD2: Oct 18, 2010 - 1:52 PM |

Last step is hard. Take your time and use an extended knife of good quality.
