second that, Clint has a good eye with GT4's

The first doesn't have really any info listed along

however the second....

QUOTE
This GT4 celica is easily as fast as any Mitsubishi EVO, or Subaru sti from the mid 90s, and even keeps up with my mate's 2001 sti.
$$$ spent with receipts(good to see), in the last four months I have gone over this car from front to back and given it a major birthday.
- Front bumper touched up
- New HKS air filter
- TRD oil filter with Castrol Magnatec
- New 3 inch turbo down pipe
- Brand new 3rd gear synchro
- New Exedy clutch
- New front strut mounts
- New TRD adjustable LF shock
- New front tyres, four wheel balance (Hankook Optimo)
- Spare TRD springs (2)
- Full wheel alignment
- New rear diff mount
- Spare set of track day tyres (Silverstone S575)

Before I got the car it had $$$ spent on it too. This is one car which has been loved by some Japanese man with deep pockets
- HKS cold air induction kit
- Full adjustable TRD coil over suspension with certification (thats a good $5,000 and you cant really buy them anymore)
- Turbo timer
- Lightweight flywheel, maybe TRD?
- Possibly has TRD thermostat, runs slightly cool.
** - TRD front brake rotors (I'm pretty sure)
For specs on the TRD suspension, google the TRD japan website and go crazy.

All of the above is on top of the outstanding ST205 which sold for $96500 new in 1996
- Turbo four wheel drive rally car
- Front and rear strut braces
- Viscous centre diff
- Torque sensing LSD rear diff
- Supra turbo brakes, four pot front, two pot rear, slotted front discs
- Twin entry turbo, gives big flow with minimal lag
- Lightweight bonnet
- 450-620km per 55L tank depending on driving style.

Could be worth getting the vehicle history from both if your serious.

Personally I would be a bit more open minded about the colour as the st205 isn't an overly common car in NZ, so the pickings are slim (as you may have noticed). The only advice I can really give is just to keep an eye on trademe alot and be patient, thats what I did, a new listing for one usually pops up fairly regually. You can also try looking at places like autotrader, sella or the herald. A lot of the cars are getting faily high in ks now too, but I guess thats up to you whether you mind about that or not.

Yeah, im not worried about the colour at all. I would just prefer to have a white one.
Cheers for the advice.

that 2nd white one is a good 1

i made a poor choice when i bought my gt4 i took the first one i saw cuz it was the only one around at the time and i was sick of waiting.

check over the service history, the mistake i made is believing what the ad says about its service history and maintenance and how well looked after it was kept.

in my experience...

wheel bearings tend to go between 120,000kms to 180,000kms one by one
the turbo can go any time after 130,000kms depending on the quality of oil used and how frequently it had been changed (recommended 5000kms and castrol magnatec 10w30 or 10w40)
superstrut lower arms around 150,000kms to 180,000kms.
if the radiator top tank has any cracks in it replace it immediately or it will blow off as these engines get really hot.
rotate your tyres every 5000kms as the fronts like to camber wear really quick.

ive had engine mounts and swingarms come loose too, no biggie

always ask to check the turbo for shaft play and make sure the throttle body rubber mouth isnt cracked.

well if you want low km's, should look at that NZ new GT4...biggrin.gif. There was a tidy one on there ages ago that sold. Silver GT4 with sunroof and C-One front bumber had done about 90,000kms.

what about importing one? If I remeber correctly, it has to be less than 10 years or 20/30years for it to be a classic. And it would fall inbetween the 2. Rather silly.
I'll keep my eyes out if one pops up for sale where I am. smile.gif

i went and took that silver one for 23990 in timaru for a test drive as its in my hometown lol just for fun i dont have that much and told them i think theyre dreaming. as for importing one you cant import any for another 4 years and then you would have to as a classic
