It's time to buy new tires for my tC wheels (after they're painted ). OE was 215/45/17, is it possible to run 225 without rubbing? I'm mainly looking for a little more contact patch, nothing else.

You'll be fine. Slap a 15mm spacer on the rear while you're in there.

Are there any negatives to consider?
I never considered that, but maybe. I'm concerned about added stud stress. This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Dec 23, 2010 - 6:21 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I had 225 on my old 7" wide rims and it looked nicer, especially from the rear view.

Never had a problem with mine. had 225's on 7.5 wheels....had more than enough clearance all around.

225/45/17 with sportlines just barely touch the wheelwell liner at full wheellock.
IMO the best sized tire for a 17X7 rim on a celica. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

That size tire is perfect. I have a set on my tC rims.
