So, here it is.
I'm starting this one outside of the DFW Meet thread because its not necessarily for the sole purpose of meets. The information that I'm posting here is for everyone in the area who likes get out and take a nice drive. As you know most of DFW is flat, but if you go outside a bit you can find some real nice roads. Thats not to say there are not any in the flatness, but those are far and few between.
So here is how the format is going to work. Location, Distance(that the run is), Description, Pics/Video.
If you have a route that you want to share (or want to add something to an existing route.), feel free to add it (just make sure its not already covered in here)

The Routes:
1.)Glen Rose (Second Post)
2.)Farm Road 5 South (Fifth Post)
3.)Decordova-Cleburne Loop (Ninth Post)
4.)Possum Kingdom (Coming Soon)
5.) Turbine Run (Coming Soon)

Routes to Avoid:
1.)Shoreview/Heron Drive (Lake Worth Castle Run). Anyone who cruised with me last year knows this route, and while it was fun the roads were falling apart. Revisited and found out that the roads were fixed, sort of. They laid down some asphalt, but it seems they never finished the job (or maybe that was their plan), the small rocks are loose, the road is already starting to show signs of wear. Two real bad things about this run. One, its like driving on tiny gravel, so there is no real traction at higher speeds (even going slightly above posted limits in a turn is bad), I know this cause I went sideways for about twenty feet out of a turn. Secondly, its like driving on tiny gravel, the reason I say this again is because tons of small rocks love to fly up and hit the car. Not only does it sound annoying, it cant be good for the paint. Also the route after the castle (Silver Creek/Watercress) is worse than before, and now has added speed humps (I guess that is their solution to keeping traffic out). It was a nice run and I hope that they get it fixed. I will check again in the spring/summer.

2.)Cahoba Drive (Mt. Cahoba as some call it here). I guess I took the wrong way there. I came off of 820N, and even though it looks like fun on Google Maps, it sucks. I encountered speed humps (massive ones to boot) about every 200-300 feet. It was stupid, and now my resonator hates me (and that was going slow over them). Again, I read about this route on other local forums and people said it was great. Its only saving grace (and speed hump free zone) is about 1 mile strip with a tight hairpin (even then the road sucks and has rocks all over it). On top of that, the turns had me brushing against tree branches to avoid idiots that have to drive in the middle when making a turn (sorry guy, your truck cant take corners that fast, so slow down).

Glen Rose Run

Location: Glen Rose
Distance: 57 Miles.
Description: The route starts just outside of Glen Rose on Farm to Market Road 205. After a few lazy turns the route continues South on Farm to Market Road 51. This is where the majority of turns and elevation changes are. It is by far my favorite part of the route, save for the one sharp turn with a dip, so look out for that guy. The route continues along 67 West, although there really are not many turns, there is some decent elevation change. On top of that its really a good chance to open it up. Heading North on Farm to Market Road 2481 I encountered some sweeping turns. Nothing too drastic, but it was a nice balance between 51 and 67. Turning East on Farm to Market Road 205 (Lower Granbury Road) will take you back to Farm to Market Road 51. Again this road was just like the one before it, sweeping turns, nothing too crazy. Once reaching Farm to Market 51 I went South again, and like before, had a real good time running it. Once I hit 67 I headed East back into Glen Rose. Overall the roads were in really great shape, save for a few rough spots. I can see this place getting crowded when the weather is warm and most clubs are out and about. Definably hit this one up on non peak hours!

Yeah, alot of fun. But this weekend I'm building my camera mount, so hopefully I'll have some better video for the FM5 South run, and maybe another.

Farm Road 5

Location: Aledo/Annetta
Distance: 16 Miles (Both Ways)
Description: Nestled on the southern outskirts of Aledo, Farm Road 5 is probably one of my favorite roads to drive. The run starts at the intersection of FM5 and FM 1187, heading south past the residential area is where it starts to pick up. Watch out for the dip thats located after the second major 90 degree turn, its a real easy way to bottom out (I did it my first time through). After the dip the road is fairly decent, plenty of turns for such a short run, and a 55-60 MPH posted speed limit means you can really put some power through the turns. Although its short, I double back to make the most out of it, I usually pull in at Airport Road and back onto FM5. ****A word of caution though. It seems that this route is a bit unpredictable. You can go one day and no one will be on it, then go again the next and run into a fair amount of vehicles travelling it. To add more to it, the route is popular amongst cyclists. During the summer months it can be crowded, and with that being said, if I encounter vehicles or cyclists I just cruise****

Possum Kingdom....wanna go?
But to keep this thing going (until I do make the PK run) here is another one.

Decordova/Cleburne Loop
Location: Southeast of Decordva and West of Cleburne
Distance: 95 Miles
Description: Located about thirty minutes south of Fort Worth and off the main run of FM 4 lies a somewhat lengthy loop that has some good scenery, decent hills, and sweeping turns. Thrown in for good measure are some sharp turns on a few of the county roads that I took, which I was amazed that the road condition was as good as it was. Although most of the country (CO RD) roads were wide enough to allow two vehicles on the road at once, there was one that was extremely narrow and closed in.
Things to watch out for: Traffic coming at you on a county road, although I didn't encounter that much, you have to share the road. Country Road 1108 will sneak up on you, as its not very pronounced (veers off to the left of FM 1434). County Road 1108 is also very narrow after the "T" (1108 to the left and 1117 to the right), if it was a one way road it would be great, but its not. Although I did not encounter any traffic on that road when I did this. The Farm Roads are great through here, the asphalt isn't worn down and the speed limit is 60-65 (even 70 in some spots), which means you can open it up on sweeping turns.
When all is said and done, this isn't that bad of a ride. Its got some elevation, and turns. A good afternoon cruise, nothing too fast paced, just a leisurely drive that has plenty of back roads that can be explored.

Mmmm... this looks like an interesting run indeed. Lmk when you decide to run it and I can plan on it. Working overnights pretty much voids me of anything after work in the morning unless im super jacked up on caffeine or something and can make staying up past 1pm laugh.gif

That's cool. Where ever is fine with me. Distance doesn't really bother me. Its just making the time for it that I have to plan for.
