I'm used to 6gc giving me a weird message from time to time when I click one one of the link to go back to the main forum or specific forum (i.e., 6G Celicas Forums > Other > Website Discussion.) I used to get messages such as "Error: 404" and things like that. Lately, I've been clicking those links and the page will load for a little while, nothing will happen, and eventually, I'll get a popup menu from 6gc, as if I just downloaded a file.

Sorry for the poor description. It's 2 a.m. here and I'm pretty tired. I just don't know what this popup window is about and why 6gc isn't loading right, and if anybody else gets anything like this.

It does it to me about once every 15 times I try to go back to the main forum page. The page will take a couple of minutes to load, then that window pops up. I've never actually let it open as a file. I always hit cancel then have to refresh the page. I didn't know if anybody else might be getting something like this or if it was just a glitch in Firefox. However, 6gc is the only site that does this.

It might just be your MAC. I have Firefox on my Windows 7 PC and it works perfectly fine.

It did this on my mac as well this morning.....

I wonder if there's a new script on the site that firefox doesn't like?

If we're both using a Mac and Firefox, it's probably just something that Firefox is doing. The site loads for a little while then that window pops up and I can't navigate away from whatever thread I am reading until I refresh the page or type www.6gc.net/forums in the address box again. Next time this window pops up, I'll let Firefox try to open it as a file just to see what happens.

I haven't had this happen on my Mac, but I rarely use Firefox on it either. I use Chrome, but often get a Page Cannot Be Displayed or similar error and the only way to get it to display is through Google's cached copy (this doesn't happen with 6gc, just some other random websites).

Perhaps the browser somehow disassociated itself with PHP files (or the page is not rendering correctly in your version of Firefox and thinks it is supposed to download it instead of display the file) you could try Open With and choose Firefox, and check the box that says "Do this automatically for files like this from now on."

If that doesn't work, and presuming you're using the latest version of Firefox, another thing you could try is to revert back to a 3.5.x version and see if this fixes your problem, unless you have a reason to have the latest version it shouldn't be a noticeable downgrade and will potentially fix the problem (really the only noticeable difference is that 3.6.x supports skins for the browser's interface).

Here is 3.5.16 if you want to give it a try- http://mac.oldapps.com/firefox.php?app=71d...ac7a2fd0e415870

The problem isn't enough to bother me to download the older version of Firefox. It's just weird how it happens every once in a while, and only on 6gc.

Hector up there, being all smug.... "I've got a Macbook Pro, look at me!" laugh.gif Just kidding. I've considered upgrading to the Pro, but I don't feel like spending the money. This one cost me enough.

Weird, I also have a 17" Macbook Pro and haven't had this happen. That's pretty coincidental. laugh.gif

Next time this happens to someone, can you save the file and send it to me? I've not seen this happen myself, but it probably isn't a hard fix if I can find a way to reproduce it.

I can do that for you. I tried downloading the file the other day to see what happens. It ended up opening a web browser I wasn't even aware that I had (Opera) and displayed a blank white page. I'm sure I still have the file, and I can send it to you however you'd like.

The problem I am having with emailing it to you is that it's a 0 kb file, so Hotmail attaches it as an empty file. I don't know much about files and PHP, but hopefully you know what to do with it.
