hi i have bought a '94 Celica ST with C52 Tranny last year and I am currently changing the input shaft bearings (rear and front) because they were worn and the no.2 shift fork because because it was very worn causing 3rd gear pop-out...
i know the C52 can be found in these cars: Toyota Celica Toyota Corolla (E90) GTS Toyota Starlet GT Turbo Toyota AW11 MR2 Toyota Corolla Levin AE101 / Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE101 - early years Geo Prizm (1990-1992) And maybe more... apparently all AW11 MR2 have the 4.311 Final ratio and the FWD cars can be found with both ratio: 4.311 and 3.722... i want to know if the '94 celica have the 4.311 Final Ratio or 3.722 Final Ratio?? and how to know if i really have the 4.311 or 3.722 final ratio??? THANK YOU! |

Im thinkin it has to be 4.311 as 5th gear is pretty long gear in this tranny.

haha dude I'm right I'll bet you anything. It lists c56 and celica under it because they are referring to the c56 transmission bolted to the 1zz-fe engine. I can bet you that for sure. also it lists the mr2 spyder which was the mr2 produced from 2000-2005. I have the chilton book and it says c52 tranny in it as well. I just dont want to take a pic of it waste of time

I own an 88 corolla gts with a c52, and a 97 celi with a c52, and I can tell you first hand the corolla is lower geared than the celica. jus sayin

thank you for all the answer! ... i have my tranny removed from my celica. the transmission is open in the garage...
how to calculate the gear ratio? i think that is like that: Count the number of teeth on the ring gear. Count the number of teeth on the first gear. Divide the result of your first gear counting by the result of your engine gear counting. This is your first gear's ratio. Repeat this process for every following gear. anyone know if it is the correct way to calculate the gear ratio??? |

Because wikipedia is always factual .. And it's tooth*..
I'd count the teeth just to insure the info for the website! |

if by ring gear you mean the splines in the engine (or the splines on the tip of the shaft), then that's wrong.
you'll need to find out which of the gears mesh for each gear (1,2,3,4,5,Reverse). in first gear, two gears are in mesh.. one from each gear shaft.(example) just count the number of teeth from one gear and the number of teeth of the gear in mesh on the second gear shaft. take the larger number and divide it by the smaller number. that's the gear ratio. forgot to add, the gear on the input shaft (the one with the straight cut gears) is the reverse gear. so first gear would be the large helical gear next to it.
