Well Im going in on the lotek group buy and was wondering what kinda gauges everyone is getting? I plan on getting a RPM gauge and a Fuel/Air ratio gauge but other than that i have no idea. Lets hear what you all plan on doing.

I plan on getting oil pressure, oil temperature, and maybe water temperature or EGT if I end up getting the Lotek pod. For now I'll probably just get an oil pressure gauge and put it in my single gauge pod.

im going to put little crayon drawings for gauges in there, with the boost fixed at 20psi! That way when people see it from the outside, they will think it is cool! haha..J/K!

Mine is going to sit in a box for almost half a year until i turbo hopefully this summer. Then i plan on putting in a boost, oil pressure, A/F gauges. Anyone have any recommendations on what brand guages are the best?

Defi, Apexi, Blitz, and Greddy all come to mind. They're all great, and all expensive. Personally, I'd love to have a setup of Defi BF gauges in my car, but I simply can't justify spending $80 on the control unit and $250 or so per gauge. wink.gif

OBX, Matrix, and Ractive all make cheap gauges that have the indiglo look to them. Autometer C2 gauges look similar as well, but they're really expensive for being Autometer gauges. If you want to spend lots of money, Apexi's EL glow gauges illuminate to look somewhat like indiglo gauges, and are very accurate. smile.gif

Just FYI to everyone: The Apex'i doesn't glow a blue similar to the speedometer indiglo gauges. The Apex'i blue is sorta like a bright royal blue, while the speedometer indiglo gauge is sorta like an aqua-blue. I don't know if it has anything to do with my converter, but I'm seriously considering getting some new ones made by speedhut to match my Apex'i gauges.

Ray, do you have a photo of those gauges at night? I love the way they look from a couple photos that I've seen of the, but I'd love to see more. smile.gif

I took a picture, but the flash was on when I did it. I didn't realize the picture didn't come out right until I uploaded it to my comp. When I get my car back from the body shop, I'll take another picture. Sorry bro.

I might be selling my Apex gauges tho. I really considering getting the reverse indiglo (black face) gauges. I don't think the white face will match the setup I have planned for my interior.

I probably won't make my decision till January, but I'll sell them boxed and complete as follows:

Mechanical white face boost gauge (in psi, not bar): $100 obo
Electronic white face EGT (with temp sensor): $200 obo

If anyone is interested, just PM me and we'll talk. If you wanna see pix, read my post in the Completed Swaps topic in the Engine/Transmission/Performance section of the board.

I think that there are going to be a lot of questions asked about how to install the gauges and pod, so it would probably be a lot easier if someone could post about it or do a how-to, its just an idea to keep the same question from being asked over and over

I read this post the other day and the comment that autometer gages suck bugged me. Specifically the one about the boost gage not reading 0 when sitting in the box (therefore making it crappy). I got to thinking about it and this really would not be correct (for a boost gage to always read 0 unless it was referenced to ambient atmospheric conditions (the electronic greddy and others probably are)). I've seen variations in atmospheric pressure anywhere from 30.05inHg to like 28.97inHg (total difference=0.67). This just happens to equate to 0.53psi. So it would not be at all unusual for the gage to fluxuate slightly based on the atmospheric conditions. This probably isn't a good characteristic to have in a boost gage as the engine cares only what the final density of the charge is which is determined only by absolute pressure, temperature (and gas composition, but we'll consider that to be constant). All in all I don't think a half psi fluxuation is a big deal tho as charge temp will have a much greater effect on the end density and will be much more affected by the ambient temp than the pressure will be by the barometric pressure. The main requirement in a gage is repeatability, if the accuracy is slightly off it's not huge because its always the same. If you tuen it and know where the gage is supposed to be it doesn't much matter from then on.

Ok, I know that was a ramble, but I had to get it off my chest. I have autometer gages. wink.gif

I'm not knocking your gauges, because most Autometer gauges probably work great, but some Autometer gauges just are not quality products. I've heard the bad things that you described with the boost gauges from at least five different people, but also, I've heard bad things about some of their other gauges as well. Just last night I was reading up on gauges and found two instances of people having their needles on their Autometer gauges fall off. I also read that a couple people had problems with their needles sticking in one spot occasionally.
