I need a quickfire way to spend the least amount of money, to get the most amount of power out of my GT (UK)

How much money do you want to spend.
You are expecting too much from just a few mods. What engine are you using? 5SFE? 5SFE Info 130 hp @ 5,400 rpm 145 lb.-ft. @ 4,400 rpm 70HP jump is way too much without spending some money. Either way, look here: 1) buy an autometer Air Fuel ratio meter. 2) buy an adustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge a) buy some ngk racing plugs 3) adjust the Air Flow meter idle screw for a rich mixture base on the a/f meter reading. 4) advance the throttle position sensor if you have one. 5) If not above, increase the fuel pressure using the adjustable fuel pressure regulator. 6) advance your timing by a few degrees. Maybe up to 16 degrees. Increase it from 0 to 16, slowly listening for pinging. (sounds like little hammers tapping on a piece of metal) This is the cheapest and safe way to do it. Either way, this is my opinion and I am not liable for any damage or problems resulting from what is stated here. TUR-BO... but that can be kinda pricey. um, nitrous i guess, but i personally don't like it. power costs $$. if i were you, i'd either swap in a 3sgte, or custom fab a turbo kit.

ooo good point coomer! if that's the case, if you have a 3sge... then hitting 200 should be a matter of intake/exhaust/header and or your best value/power would be you throw some mild cams in there, then BAM, 200, no problem. If he does have the 3SGE, it maybe producing 170hp+ at the flywheel.
If that is so, it is very easy to get well beyond the 200HP. again, how much money do you want to spend? My mods up top will allow you to achieve that figure once you have a good aftermarket exhaust and intake. Sorry about the lateness of my reply, i have free internet at university but not at home! I have a 1997 2.0 GT. 173 bhp is standard i think. i want to spend about £1000 - £3000 in total, including stuff like bodykit, alloys and ice (thats in pounds! - not sure about in dollors??!). I can get a cheap exhaust system and alloys, but not sure about engine mods.
also, I heard that my engine can't handel a turbo, well it is not good for the engine or something?, not to sure about nitrous either, tooo many risks envolved! how much power does the US celica GT have??? Your engine can handle a turbo.
You have the 3SGE. It is very easy to get to the 200HP mark without any trouble. Flow my mods and you can get there. Check out my post "TurboCharger project from scrap for Do-IT-Yourself". Here is the last page info. You can leave out the turbocharging part. Also, give http://www.fensport.co.uk a call. There are very good. 4) Gauge setup. You can get a number of gauges from Autometer of from some other manufacture. You will need an Air/Fuel ratio, temperature and pressure gauge. There are all important; making sure that you do not destroy your engine. Refer to manufacture for setting up of their gauges 5) What we do from here now is to tune the car. This will show you how lame stock can be. 6) In this tuning, we will select a nice exhaust using a custom 2.0” – 2.5” piping. Also get a good air filter from companies like K&N, Ractive and so on. 7) Install a good Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (TRD) w/ a fuel pressure gauge (optional but need to see what you fuel pressure is set at and to see if you fuel system can handle the high fuel flow need after turbocharging.) You will be using the A-FPR to supply more fuel to the injectors, there reducing the duty cycle on the injector when you need more fuel to make more power and have a proper fuel-air mixture after turbocharging. 8) Install some nice Platinum, Iridium or any racing plugs from manufacture like NGK, Nippon, etc. 9) Start the car and check you A/F gauge. Increase the fuel pressure using the FPR. Make a note on the reading display by the fuel gauge meter. Listen to how the car is idling. We do not want the car to sound lumpy, as this is wasting fuel. Check the Autometer or the A/F meter for how rich or lean the car is. Test drive the keep you eye on the A/F meter. Keep from using full throttle opening since the meter will not read properly. We want the reading to be in the range stoichiometric range (yellow lights into green) or just a little rich (into few green lights). Must read http://www.autometer.com/hp/index.html Check for the best time it take to reach 100km/h or some measurement to see what your best A/F would be for your driving style. 10) After running the previous test, let us now advance the timing. You will need a timing light. Read through your Celica Repair or Workshop manual (by this time you should have one. You will need it later) on how to do this. Adjust you timing by every 2 degree. Listen for pinging (sound like little hammers hitting on a piece of block metal) Tests drive the car again and listen for the pinging sound under normal and hard acceleration. When successful, push the timing up again (by 2 degree). Run the same test again. If you start to here the pinging sound (for Air Flow meter people) adjust your AFM a/f screw. Otherwise, increase you fuel press until you get rid of the sound. Please remember that you must meet a balance between A/F and timing. Test drive one last time to make sure everything is good. Your car should now feel very fast and capable. Please note that this highly advance timing will be reduce when you go turbocharged [/color][/b] (Advise) This maybe a good time to invest in a Cranecams or MSD ignition controller with a timing control. Once attained, you can reset you timing to 0 and use the ignition controller timing module to control your timing from the cockpit. CraneCams HI6TRC + Nology M80/CraneCams LX92 coil and some low resistance/Nology Hotwires. These will allow you to properly ignite your fuel. Thanx!! i'll look into turbochargers! The thing is though, i could probably pick up a import GT4 for the price of all this, it would cost me about £5-6k. This is a very hard decision!!!

No you wouldn't.
A better clutch is all you might need to transfer more torque to the ground. If I were you, I would buy a GT Four and done. That you would be better. |

If I were you and I had a 3s-ge I would turbo that thing quicker than you can say cat in the hat
The 3s-ge is one of the stronger toyota engines and it can definately withstand the boost, but if you can afford one you may want to go with the gt-four. either way you go enjoy tuning your celica -------------------- [img]http://photos-081.facebook.com/n6/081/n15913038_30266081_3342.jpg[/img]
