So after my cars been sitting for a lil bit my oil pressure light flickers real fast. Like when it starts up it goes off bought halfway comes back on real fast then goes off. Its never when I'm driving or anything. Just when I start it. From what I can gather from other forums its just a pressure loss from the heat combined with the viscosity of the oil that is normal most of the time. There is no knocking and my engine starts fine. I just wanna check though cause this is my first summer with the car and so I don't know.

Video
Not when its starting of course, right after the engine starts if you pay close attention you can see it dims a lil bit and goes back up. Its hard to see on the video. Even if you cant see it you can tell my lights on for a second after the engine starts, but if I start my car up after its just been ran the light immediately goes off. So is this bad, or is it a normal thing?

Go to your buddies car and turn the car on, all the lights turn on. It's called vehicle test (made up the name tongue.gif) basically sends a signal to all the sensors to get a good feed back. Bad feed back and you get a check engine light. It's all normal, another thing. Many oil filters are ****ty and don't have a oil valve, our filters are mounted pretty high. On start up there is a longer time that are engines have no oil then most cars because oil has to pump into the filer fill it up and send it everywhere. Toyota filters are designed for this. Best wishes -Toyota Tech

Haha. Yea I know about all the lights on startup but it stays on longer then the rest of them. I have a Toyota Filter on it. With the old filter (Toyota also) it didn't do it. I'm assuming its just a bad check valve in the filter. I have to change the oil again in about 600 miles so I guess well find out then.

or the pressure switch is on the way out, they get 'lazy' when they're going bad.

I thought it might have been that but something (which I haven't been able to identify yet) kinda vibrates until the light kicks off.

I really hope it isn't but my engine does have 195k miles on it...

It doesn't really sound like a knock though. It sounds more of like a pump. Like if the oil pump was going bad. And it sounds like its next to the air intake. Right when the light shuts off it stops. Thats the best way to describe I can describe it. I'd try to video it but its to subtle to hear in it and even if I did stick the camera in the bay all you'd be able to hear is my intake. Lol.
