I just replaced the old bosch platinums that were in my 95 st last weekend with v-power ngk. There were a huge difference in power ,I don't think iridium is all its cracked up to be anyways ,at least in our motors. Try to stay away from bosch platinums cause they are a hot spark plug, they don't last long in economy motors.

The iridiums will last longer and offer a real high powered spark with a lower temperature than the Bosch Plat 4's. The V-Power are basically what I sell to customers day in and day out that come in for NGK spark plugs. V-Power is basically the standard NGK plug, except it has a bit better design that allows quicker burning of the AF mix. You can read about the V-Power here and then click on the Standard, Platinum, and Iridium on the side to view the differences. The V-Power is somewhat like what would be OEM in our cars.

And the reason 95STHATCH got a noticeable difference, very very slightly nitceable mind you, is because as he stated...his Bosch plugs were OLD. Brand new the Bosch plugs should produce more or equal power compared with the V-Power one's brand new. But yet, the Bosch's wear much quicker and aren't meant for our cars. The standard way to find it goes like this...

Ford - Autolite spark plugs
GM - Champion
European (BMW, VW, etc.) - Bosch
Most Japanese Imports - NGK

These are typically that brands that come stock with the car from the factory, and always should be replaced with these unless the substitute is something better than doesn't run at a hotter temperature than the OEM ones. This is because after a certain temperature, the hotter the plug gets...it's eficiency decreases.

Hope this helps. Better have, cuz my work (NAPA) gave me 3 hours of pay to go to a 3 hour seminar on the ignition system.

V-Power, baby...that's all I use...IMHO, it's the best plug for turbocharged engines. I used Bosch Platinum 4 when my car was NA and they really sucked...good idle but I lost power. Now I use grade 8 V-Power plugs...they're very cold and the 7A-FE loves them smile.gif

I actually have Denso iridium IK27 plugs with MSD 8.5mm wires and the engine runs quite good.
Anyway don't think that u'll get power from spark plugs! rolleyes.gif
In heavily modded engines the choose of the plug is very important but in stock engine the plug is relative, the important thing is to choose the right heat range!
I suggest iridium for the nature of material: it's much harder and stronger than silver or platinum BUT the spark energy is lower cause it's less conductive.
If you uprgrade ignition system iridium is the way to go!!!!! wink.gif

Dont let GM hear you say that, they actually use AC (Delco) spark plugs,
Chrysler used the Champions,,,

And stick with the recommended heat range or maybe 1 range colder if you drive hard, All the heat range is, is how quickly the plug dissipates(?) heat. too hot and the electrode stays red-hot and you get pre-ignition (Very bad)...too cold and you dont keep the carbon and other junk burned off the plug and get mis-fires. Colder plugs will have a short, fat center ceramic electrode post to get the heat to bleed off into the cyl head quicker, while a hot plug will have a long, thin center ceramic electrode post to let it stay hotter.

Like snadman said the iridiums are quality plugs so they will last longer. NGK v-power won't last as long as iridiums but they are good plugs. You will notice a conciderable pick-up no matter what you use "IF" you haven't changed the plugs in a longgggggggg time or have never changed the plugs. You won't be beating vipers or nothing because you changed your plugs but you will definately notice the difference.

Sorry, I guess I'm referring to what we sell at Napa. You are correct on that, just that we don't sell AC Delco's, so we sell Champions for all GM vehicles as well as Chrysler. :-D Thanks for the correction.
