That incident is talked about in multiple car forums all over the internet. There is also a video floating after the fact where pissed off owner was cursing out a bloodied up old fart.

Honestly put american law system is heavily flawed when it comes to personal damages. Attacker can sue the victim and win. For justice to be served you need to have a really good lawyer.

I had a very similar incident myself with my old celica. Kids tazered my hood and kept messing around my truck. One day I was installing a truck bed cargo divider that I built and was installing oudoor carpet. I had a staple gun in my hand and yet again a football hit side of my car and kid was acting all tough in front of his buddies. I did not waste a second and put a couple of staples into his chest. He was whining like a little bitch and ran away to mommy. He and his friends have been giving me a wide pass ever since.

I firmly believe that violence is not something that people should resort to but when all reasoning fails you should be able to defend your loved ones, your property etc.

wow... I could only make it to page 5 before the self congratulating got to be too much.

here's the video that he took off of the OP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRdLd-T5rp0...player_embedded

from the sounds of things, yeah, obviously the vet was wrong in spray painting the car, thats a no brainer. But the OP is probably more in the wrong by assaulting the guy after the fact. I'm sure that if the vet wanted to, based on that small amount of video, he could go after the OP for assault and if his lawyer is good enough might be able to make something of the pseudo-death threats that were made.

I also found this little bit to be pretty interesting.

haha I actually knew the arresting officer so it kind of worked out.

all in all, it sounds very childish and self-serving on the OP's part.

They were both in the wrong. Yeah, the old man is an asshole for spraying that on a car that's worth as much as it is... but beating the **** out of him, while being a temporary solution to frustration and hate, is only going to instill more hatred in the old vet. For those that don't know... Mitsubishi made bombers... the same bombers that bombed Pearl Harbor. I doubt it was targeted to the owner of the car, but more to the company that the car represents. I wish this video showed what happened.

This video response is semi right:

The old guy admitted he spray painted 6 other cars before he got to the evo he got what he deserved you don't have the right to do this to anyone's property he apologized after he lost the fight and the old guy is NOT disabled he is NOT in a wheel chair he is NOT in the hospital on life support he as you can clearly see can walk, talk, drive a car, and guess what ?? SPRAY PAINT CARS !! I'm glad the dude knocked some sense into him.

No, the reason we are where we are is because of people doing what this guy did, and getting away with it.

If it was my dad, I'd tell him he was a moron and deserved everything he got.

It was a hate crime, it was personal property damage, it was all of the above and there's no excuse for it. The only reason he apologized was because he got his a$$ beat.

Going around spray painting cars because you're a retired navy vet and just got laid off? Give me a break, I'm sorry he doesn't have a job, but that gives him ZERO right to go around doing what he did.

EDIT: And do as to others...well, if I went around spray painting cars, I would hope someone would come and knock some sense into me...

If my dad did this to your car I would gladly video tape you beating some sense into him, I don't care if your someones son, brother, husband, or dad you don't have the right to do this to someone just because your mad you lost your job and if I did that I would've let them do the same to me too but I can guarantee you it won't happen to me because I was raised better then this to respect people and their property.

My dad did in fact lose his job a year ago with the rest of the millions of Americans but he didn't go blaming foreign cars or vandalizing other peoples property he did what a real "Man" would do he looked for a job first thing because he knows he has a family to support not go to the nearest bar and get drunk and cause problems. The only person the old guy should blame if he's mad he lost his job is GM they closed their plant down and moved it to China fired him then blamed foreign cars for it ?? Grow up GM and start taking responsibility for your actions and stop making excuses and blaming others clearly this old guy knows nothing about the company he worked for.

People have to realize that their are consequences when you vandalize someone else's property even if the guy reported it to the police all their gonna do is write a report and throw it in the garbage nothings ever done when your property's stolen or vandalize they just wait till it shows up in pieces or write it off and the owner ends up picking the tab, I consider it personal injury because the owners gonna have to find a way to pay for it not the person who did the damage.

All in all I just hope the old guy learns his lesson...

If anyone actual see the jurisdiction system work, its pretty pathetic. If the owner of the evo decides to sue. The vet would have to pay for the damages, however, the court does not specify the amount of time he has to pay it by. Meaning he can pay 1 dollar a year. The only real world way of getting your car fixed is to go through your insurance company and file a claim. This in turn will raise your insurance premiums. The EVO owner is always the loser even though he was the victim.

People are showing sympathy because he is a vet. Which is absolutely retarded and the wrong way of thinking about it. We as Americans should NOT support and honor our troops because they are party of the military. We should only support them because they are acting righteously to protect our country and our citizens. Being a vet he should know better then to do this. He out of all people should know the rules. After there is also a reason why military law of " Moral Disqualification."

Most people are non violent. Most people think that reason is enough to settle our issues on verbal field and not a physical one. Unfortunately when out of a million comes along a human being who solves his issues physically people try and apply reason to his method. You should read some of the comments posted defending the old guy. It is mind boggling.

My problem with reason mentality is that at best problems are solved with puny reimbursement and usually not in interest of those who were affected. Nobody has thousands of dollars just lying around to pay for damages they caused. Nobody has thousands of dollars just lying around to pay for damages received. I do not think it matters what age, sex, nationality, religion or mental stability attacker is. Attacker inadvertently impacted another human being both financially and emotionally and let alone inconvenienced the heck out of the victim.

I figure old guy wanted to spray paint some cars and get away with it. At best police would have charged him with some sort of misdemeanor and vandalism and sentenced him to 90 days of community service and put him on some sort of repayment plan. Neither of those options would have helped victims of his actions let alone taught the guy a lesson. During repayment he would have been filled with more hate potentially relieving his anger on someone else's property. Getting your ass kicked really bad changes your perspective on things. Sometimes that is the rational thing to do to another human being who stops being rational and goes off on a tangent.

I'll be honest. I probably would have done the same thing... I don't agree with it, but my instinct would kick in. When my car was broken into, I scared the **** out my two friends. They had never seen me so angry... You damage something I love and I'll kick your ass.

However, and I know this is contradicting myself, I don't agree in videotaping and humiliating someone. There is no honor in that, nor do you gain any respect. He should have just kicked the guys ass, held him there until the cops arrived and then sued.

The vet was a racist asshole who had anger against Mitsubishi for manufacturing bombers (and the Japanese in general, stated by his "gook" comment) and proceeded to express his anger in hate crimes. This is why I hate white people. Although there are racists in every culture, white people decide to show it openly thinking they are untouchable. This white American mentality is what makes me want to live in another country. There is no longer any respect for each other, no honor, no pride... people just hate on others and discriminate.

The old guy got what he "deserved" but at the same time... I don't know if he really deserved it. It's possible that he's mentally unstable from the war, or maybe he really is an asshole. I wish the owner of the Evo got a before video showing the alleged vandal "spitting on him and calling him a gook" after being caught spraying the victims car.

+1.

Its completely delusional to feel sorry for the guy...hes not mental, hes not disabled, he knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what kind of rage his actions could provoke.. Unfortunately for him, he picked the wrong person to **** with, someone who isnt afraid to stand up for their property.. Do to others what you want done to you? That should apply to the guy that got beat, not the guy doing the beating...he wouldnt have gotten beat up if he never vandalized the dudes car...

If i caught someone so little as spitting on my car i would for sure at least sock them in the face... I wouldnt break his nose or leg intentionally, or go to the extent of making a youtube video for all to see.. But breaking his leg wasnt even what the evo owner intended. The guy was trying to run away and the evo owner crushed his leg in the door..he didnt try to break his leg, it just happened...the dude was trying to run away from the 6 crimes he just commited, he is the real coward, and he even admitted in the video to being wrong, because he knew exactly what he was getting himself into.

Whats with this thought process of feeling bad for the bad guy? Everyone can be someones dad. Serial killers can have kids...do we feel bad for them because they are dads? Hell no! If anything, feel sorry for his kids for having a whack job father that goes around displacing hatred on american mitsubishi owners for pearl harbor..

Sucks he got beat up that bad, i hope for his familys sake he has some form of health insurance, but i hope he learned his lesson. I hope he never vandalizes someones personal property again for something unrelated to the person hes doing it to, or period for that matter.
