No. You'll need a 3S flywheel and pressure plate and 5S disc and throw out bearing.

Cool thanks right now i have 3s flywheel with a stage 4 clutch on the 5s tranny , are you running the st202 LSD tranny on your setup ? Yes, but the difference is that I have a BEAMS. It's no 3S-GTE, but it's essentially the same thing- a 3S motor with the S54 transmission. I have been told before that you can use an aftermarket performance 5S clutch, but I cannot confirm if that's true. At any rate, I wouldn't want a clutch intended for the lower power 5S to be anywhere near my 3S. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. great thanks ! The axle I have are from st204 gt-s thinking u have the same one ? Or are they different axle
Right now i have over 300 Whp so hoping that the LSD will help ! more for the racing-side I seen on one form , someone had Celica st axle with BEAMS tranny didn't work to good at 80mph or more So i guess i would be looking at the BEAMS tranny and maybe a clutch for it as well what clutch would I be looking for the only a st202 ? one or is the same as mr2 st205 |

Yeah, those axles will fit just fine. I can't say much about power though. I've read that the S54 and the axles both are good up to about 300 whp. After that, an E153 is geared much better.
Was it just the axles that didn't work so well above 80 or the trans? Mine is great all the way up to 116 mph where the ECU shuts the car down but I don't have near the power you do. As for the clutch, you're good on the 3S flywheel but you'll need a good 5S disc and 3S pressure plate. Brand/stage is up to you. I'd lean more towards the MR2/ST205 clutch than the ST202. I'm not sure of the power ratings on any of them but I'm sure the ST205 clutch can handle a lot more than an ST202 clutch. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. actually its just the center section. this is what i mean by splines. here is what you need. 3S clutch with a 5S center hub. now here is the good news for you. Southbend clutch can make this for you. its similar to when i alter the E153 trans to mount to a 2ZZ-GE. we use a 2ZZ clutch and flywheel with a E153 center section. call southbend and talk to Andy in the imports dept. tell him i sent you, he will take care of you.

I'm confused... As I understand it, He has a 3S-GTE with an S54 right now, and he's getting the BEAMS S54 with LSD, not an E153. Did I miss something? I understand the difference in the spline count between the two transmissions, but I don't think he's getting an E153 unless I missed it both times I read the thread.

If you currently have an S54, then you won't even need to replace your clutch. Both transmissions are S54's so just get a new throw out bearing and you're good to go.
For what it's worth, the LSD S54 has a different final drive ratio. Non LSD is 4.176 and the LSD version is 4.18. I don't know if this makes a huge difference or not. It seems to me that at 60, I used to cruise at 3,000 rpm even and with my LSD, I cruise at 3,100. Not a huge difference. It might even be in my mind. However, turnip races his BEAMS and according to him, his LSD trans had him bouncing off of the rev limiter in 5th gear down the main straight but his open diff tranny let him keep pulling. I don't know how much of a difference it will make for you though. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. So I'll be on the look out for a BEAMS TRAN now ;-) thanks for the info |

The easiest way to tell is to look where the axles slip into the transmission.
Open diff: LSD: The open diff has the narrow bar, the LSD is much thicker. Great man thanks , how does the transmission you have hold-up? Does the LSD help's a lot? thanks just asking because was think to Overhaul my Transmission and add an upgraded LSD It holds up great! Feels about like any other S54 in a straight line but turns more aggressively into corners when I blip the throttle. Reverse, it cuts around a lot quicker than the open diff. And when I'm at WOT in first or second, I'll definitely know if I don't have the wheels pointed perfectly straight. It will take off whichever direction the wheels are pointed, much less forgiving than the open diff. I haven't gotten to go for a good spirited drive with it yet, so this is just what I've gotten from a few slightly aggressive short drives. If you order the MR-S LSD from eBay and overhaul the transmission yourself, I suspect you'll be more than satisfied with your investment. I haven't put a lot of miles in with mine yet but I already don't want another open diff S54. Per Manny, . . .
and the LSD works fantasticly. i love the way it allows power delievery from mid corner to exit, where the car normally wants to just push out the LSD really helps pull the car out of the corner straight. Motor and trans for $700 or just the trans? Either way, that seems like a decent deal. Go figure aftermarket LSD for the S54 is $400 plus other parts for the rebuild, plus labor if you take it to your friend. It would be pushing if not exceeding the $700 trans you could just bolt on and drive away.
