hey thanks for looking at my thread. so the problem im having today is a break line issue. For my st at200, the rear drum break line has only one line on each rear drum. i bought a conversion setup from a gt off someone on this site. i found out froma few ppl, that i need a second steel break line for both rear discs. so where would those to new steel lines go to? do they connect with the one break line, or do they connect to the master cylinder under the hood? i was looking at an st204 at the junk yeard and noticed one more extra pice of medel on its disc break set up. it hangs on the outside where you can see, to the left of the caliper. i think its called something plate. do i need that?

um im only aware of a single brake line on the rear disks, what you might be looking at is the parking brake assembly

The hydraulic hoses are largely the same between drum and disc, with the length being the primary difference -- the flexible section of the lines have to be longer to reach the calipers.
The handbrake or emergency brake cables are also only slightly different. The cast piece at the end of the cables which attaches to the backplate is shaped differently. You could, and I only know one person to have done so, reshape the drum cables' cast piece to fit into the back plate for the disc e-brake system. Most people buy the cables which come with the disc brakes, though that requires detaching them from the hangers under the car (a couple of which are hidden by exhaust pipe heat shields). |
