Iam not sure if iam posting this in the right place. Hello I have bit of a overheating problem. I have a 03 Mrs with 3rd gen 3sgte swap from a st205. My mods are gt3071r turbo kit, 268 cams, ats cam gears, and a koyo radiator. Before I installed the engine I had the head check by a machine shop and installed a new water pump, gaskets, new thermostat, oil pump and a new headgasket. All the parts were order from Toyota. The head turned out fine so we installed everything and mounted into the car. Since we couldn't make the stock temperature gauge work I bought a autometer temp gauge. I wired up using the stock tempt sending sensor. We turned the car on and it took awhile to warm up but we notice the temp kept rising and it stop about 220f. We thought maybe the coolant system had air so we bleed it out ( I think that's the right term). But it still was steady at 220f. We replaced the thermostat but it's still stay the same. I thought perhaps since iam using the 3sgte from a celica the cooling sensor housing wasn't adequate for a mid engine setup. So I bought another housing from a 3rd gen 3sgte from a mr2 with the coolant neck. I installed it and it's Still the same. At this point I doubted the temp gauge so I bought a new prosport digital temp gauge. That didn't help, it was still the same but now it stayed between 220f- 230f. Well I checked the hoSes from the radiator and notice the hose that comes from the radiator to the thermostat is cool ,but the hose that comes from the radiator to the coolant sensor housing was warm not Hot. The gauge was reading 230. I touched the radiator and it wasn't hot , it was bearly warm. Then I checked if the coolant was boiling and it wasn't. I touched the hose that goes on the thermostat and it's cool, but I touch the hose from the coolant sensor housing and it's Kinda hot but the housing was hot. Now I did drove the car like this several times to see if the temp went up, and it went up a few degrees after long drives. I know, I know, I know I shouldn't have drove it but I needed the car since my daily decided to give up. I changed all this parts between the last 3 months and I been driving it like this for that time too. The runs and drives fine. If the car was really overheating I would of thought the engine would have taken a crap already. I check the oil for any irregularity and I Check the coolant too and everything seems fine. Maybe my headgasket is blown? How do you check that? maybe there's a air pocket somewhere? Maybe I Installed the thermostat wrong? any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Hi

i think your problem is the stock temp. sensor with your aftermarket gauge, the oem sensor is a NTC 2kOhm and i think your gauge isn't able to read this so first i would
use the sensor supplied with your gauge

you can do a leak down test to be sure is not the head gasket.

have you replaced the temp sensor ? the sensor itsefl could be at fualt.
