I need some help here, my speedometer and odometer do not work and I dont know why. I have been told that the speedometer is caused by the speed sensor but whta about the odometer?

Odometer relies on the speedometer.

I've had the same problem before. First thing you should do is test your VSS before replacing it because it costs anywhere from 150-220. I bought a Denso one for 180 and replaced it just to find out that it wasn't the VSS on the transmission that was bad. I suggest start from checking wires(look for anything not normal like unplugged or cut), test your VSS(YouTube it), if the VSS test passed then it's MOST likely your cluster that went bad. You can find clusters on eBay or here. I got a 188,xxx miles OEM cluster off of eBay for $45. It was only 10,xxx more than what it said on my stock cluster but at least it fixed the problem. So I decided to replace the instrument cluster and turned out it was the VSS in the cluster that was bad. Everything ran much better after that replcement. CEL went away and no more high idling problem, speedo, odo, and cruise control started working again.
