hello all. i saw on another topic that a member reported that with the ebay header his mileage went down. has anyone else found this to be true?
has anyone kept the stock manifold but changed the rest? if so what did that do for fuel economy/performance? any input greatly appreciated, thanks. |

any performance mod can effect MPG. but a header by itself wont be much difference

If you're really worried about MPG, then you shouldn't be doing any "performance" mods. Almost any mod you do will lead to a decrease in MPG. Save from an EMS, bolt-ons can't magically "add power" without using up some extra fuel.

uhmm.. On the contrary most bolt on mods will INCREASE MPG. when replacing your cat and stock muffed intake you are freeing up vacuum pressure
allowing the engine to use less power to breath. Therefore using less fuel to create the same power. Our engines are running 20-30% rich, because of this factor we can add most bolt on without fuel adjustments, cause as we all know a lean engine is a dead engine. BlueST205 |

Sorry Lil-Joe 101 forgot he was signed on under me, lol Sorry I guys didnt realize I was signed in under CelicaChikk, lol. I do have the ebay header and have noticed a small gain in power, nothing dramatic but it is noticable. My headers aren't for the Celica 5sfe tho, they are actually for an Mr2. I had to purchase these for the simple fact that my b-pipe is a 2 bolt flange instead of three. I have to make a custom mounting bracket for my alternator (not whats in the pic) because it would sit on the left runner. -------------------- From Japan to Texas my st202 follows me.

But in terms of availability its basically the ebay ones. Actually I shouldn't say that, JCWhitney SUPPOSEDLY has them, but the more I look ... their "filing system" is shotty, I don't think idk if they actually have them or not. You'd have to check it out to see what I mean. Guess you'd have to call and talk to an actual person to really find out. -------------------- 99 Celica GT-S

BlueST205 +1 However with our 7afe and 5sfe the stock intake and exhaust manifolds are adequate. It varies from engine to engine and between manufacturers, but the single most restrictive components on our engines, the ones that will give you the greatest performance boost, are the cylinderheads and camshafts. |
