Well I just put some fiberglass GTFour Raiserblocks on my 94 GT and I just have to tell everyone how awesome it is. Weak FWD 5sfe aside, it really does make the car much more stable at highway speeds. The extra downforce translates to more braking/swerving traction and reduces the amount the rear end seems to body-roll. I also imagine in my head that the blocks themselves act as rudders and seem to laterally stabilize the rear-end.
Anyways, my Celica had rear biased brakes and seemed prone to oversteer before, but now its much more balanced. I think everyone should put one on their car. This post has been edited by Special_Edy: Sep 25, 2012 - 11:48 PM |

I have to say, I'd read this a few times before I got one. I thought it was all a load of rubbish when it comes to a street-driven car. I chalked it up to a placebo effect. The spoiler would be great for a rally car or track car where high speed cornering happens often but not on a street car. Then I got mine. I couldn't feel any difference until 85, and that's when I noticed the rear end wasn't wiggling around quite as much. I don't feel much of a difference below 75 mph, but then the wing isn't doing much until 60. I was definitely surprised that I felt any difference.

Yeah I guess its a combination of being elevated so high that its not sitting in a void behind the hatch and the extra angle of attack that the raiser blocks give. Just like a sexy supra wing.
But the big thing for me is the old wives tale that spoilers have no place on a fwd car. Anyone who believes this is speaking from ignorance. By the time Im going 60mph I dont need any traction for acceleration, only for handling and braking. |
