Hey guys

New to the forum and just picked up a 95 GT a couple weeks ago. Been having a lot of fun driving it thus far.
It's pretty much all stock. Has a few quirks that need fixing but runs pretty good. It's a 5 speed, topaz metallic paint, and has a little body work needing addressed but I picked it up pretty cheap ($950)

I've always had a thing for black/silver celicas so new paint is definitely on the list.
Other than that, I just want to restore it back to it's glory. Also, some new wheels are in order in future.

Here are pics I took today. Haven't done much to it thus far. Just did a tune up, cap, bosch wires, ngk plugs, filters, lucas oil treatment, castrol oil, and few odds and ends. tongue.gif

Here she is

Previous owner had her friend put a kill switch in because her battery was being drained by something  That's gotta go.

Crusty spots tongue.gif Eh, I've seen worse.

Also was wondering what originally went down here. Fog lights?

Very roughly photoshopped what my vision was. Nothing wild lol. Was supposed to be more black but my PS skills aren't the best.

Nice find man. If it were mine first thing id do is clean up the interior and the engine bay, and the get the damage fixed, paint, different rims, lowered, blacked out lamps, tint. And then a swap if you want more power lol
Quite the list but I bet if you keep the car and stay active on the site, at least 1/3 of what I just suggested will happen(:

Definitely most of that list will be happening ha. Maybe not the engine swap or lowering though tongue.gif Ha we'll see, that'd be way way later. Fixing the cancer is definitely a priority but right now I'm just enjoying driving it.

Went to a junkyard today looking for little interior bits I'm missing like the door tweeter cover on the pass. side and shift boot but no luck. I did find a headliner though. It is for the gt coupe though and have to make sure it will fit in the hatch.

Nice pickup! Get the rust taken care of and it'll last forever. The coupe and lift back headliners are not interchangable.

Nice pick up man, my coupe was he same color when I first got it I went with a darker charcoal color afterwards.

It def needs some body work but if the body looks like that then I would recommend checking out your suspension at once for sureeee.

Could have some body rot where the front subframe meets the body, seen it on a few celis over the years. Great pick up can wait to see the progress !

Hmm.. I'm guessing it's the same until you get towards the back. Wonder if I can't just trim the back to fit. I knew it wasn't gonna work lol.. That'd be too easy.

And thanks for the welcome guys! Mileage is kinda high but I can't complain for the price. 197,xxx
I'm with you guys on the color. It's not a bad color on other vehicles but I think it's crap for celicas.

On the agenda next is to do some more detailing in both interior and engine bay; Repainting faded plastics, etc.
Anyone know which vinyl paint is a close match to the black interior? Duplicolor, SEM?

Oh and @ Ted95, I'll take a further look underneath but from what I can tell it's all solid underneath. thumbsup.gif
The back was probably a result of a fender bender and the top cancer I assume was from her parking under an orange tree.
Apparently the acidity took a toll on this baby over the years lol..

Yeah that's the beauty of living in florida. Rust free cars (typically) haha. My 83 vw rabbit that's lived all it's life in florida has less rust than my celica lol.

Small update

-Took what was left of my headliner down lol..
-Figured out why my dome light wasn't working and also why my sunroof only kind of works.
(burnt wires) Guess the motor got really hot or something and burnt them. I think the one in the junkyard had this
little sunroof/dome light panel.
-Cleaned interior some more, pulled apart the whole dash and cleaned. Couldn't get middle console out. Must be something I'm missing so I just didn't mess with it right now. The plan was to disassemble the shifter and clean but couldn't get that console out. rolleyes.gif
-Repainted some interior pieces that were stained/faded etc. Then realized after I painted them that it was the wrong color.
Either mine's sunfaded or its just a dark charcoal color instead of black. I went with duplicolor. Looks great otherwise lol..
I need to get more anyway to do engine bay plastics. Interior's looking sharp now!
-Sanded and painted battery tray. It was solid except rust colored. Figured it'd be worth it to protect it with paint until I can get the whole car painted.

So some mini progress but I backtracked a little bit ha. Oh well, there's always snags.

Few random pics

Burn mark on sunroof panel wires

The button for my lightbulb was broken so couldn't use my dome light.

Goodbye old friend

Prepped and ready to paint. Too bad I picked the wrong color. biggrin.gif I'll upload after shot when I repaint.

Good luck buddy, Im a similar boat myself (in the early days or restoring) smile.gif

how bad is the headliner? Should be simple enough to just recover if it isn't rotten. I'll be doing mine sooner rather than later as want it black so let me know if you go down that route...
