If it shoots too high your either way too low on oil, or your going up a hill, or around a corner to fast.......... or you got an oil leak which has happen before.

Well, first I would get the engine to operating temperature, then I would pour a can of Seafoam into it. You can run the engine mildly with the seafoam, but I wouldnt recommend going too harsh considering you already have an oil pressure problem. Really what Im looking for the seafoam to do is to clean around the oil-pump pickup. Once youve run it for 15-30 minutes with the seafoam you should drain the oil, remove the filter and put a higher viscosity in to see if it raises the pressure. If you are using 5W-30 or 10W-30 I would suggest a 10W-40 at least. I think 0W-40 5W-40 and 5W-50 are available in synthetics and these would be even better. If you arent expecting any more freezing weather in Utah then 20W-50 may be appropriate, it is actually recomended by toyota for our Texas summer.

thanks for post edy! this is where im at right now. so first i started with 15w 30 rotela diesel. i ran the car for about an hour i drained it out and it was really bad and dirty so put15w 40 in it too see if it would help. it did help a little idle on cold startupwas about28 high rpm was 38. but after running car for the day idle started droping to 3 to 1 sometimes 0 (very scary) high rpms it was about 22. i found hotter it gets the worst it is then i noticed oil was a little high so my thought is on the problem that to much oil can cause crank to slap oil and cause foam and lower oil pressure? another thought is that the oil filer is clogged up also so maybe my bypass is opeing up? i have new hks hybrid oil filter not sure if there good or not. so this week i was planning on changing oil again and filter should i use diffrent type of oil thanks!
o and oil pressure signal is on top of block drivers side. This post has been edited by talen: Jan 27, 2013 - 9:19 PM |

you guys and that seafoam crap. i have never used it just because i think its worthless crap!
how about taking the valve cover off and looking at the cams and springs. if there is sludge in there then you need to clean it. seafoam isnt going to help you -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
