Hello,
I've ordered a 4AGE 20V Blacktop engine today with about 98.000 km! Can't wait to have it here! It comes with the aircon pump, steering pump, waterpump, oil pump, alternator, plug wires, intake, exhaust header. The distributor cap is damaged, so can't use that one. Besides that i've bought a uncut wiring harness and 6 speed manual ecu from a friendly guy from club4ag.com. What do i all need to make the swap complete? I use my own C52 7AFE gearbox, think it can handle the ponies without problems This is my list thusfar: 1) Igniter and ignition coil 2) Timing and other belts and valve cover gasket (and maybe waterpump)? Thinking also of chaning to the ST oil pump, so i can use the ST tensioner, belt and waterpump because the hydraulic one on the BT fail sometimes. And ive heard BT is an interference engine, so i don't want that to happen. 3) Do the wiring 4) Get a distributor cap and rotor also i guess 5) Order the fluids 6) Change the clutch? 7) Change the plugs 8) ...... Hope you guys can help me out so i have all the parts needed Thanks a lot!! -------------------- |

A new clutch and flywheel since the ones that come with it are usually beat.
A 5SFE throttle cable, because the 7A is way too short and it will never reach. The rest is up to you, if you want to run Open ITB or turbo. A manifold for turbo off ebay is pretty decent and Velocity Stacks from Techno Toy Tuning is also better than the plastic intake manifold box. Some Uni Velocity stack filters for ITB. New motor mounts if yours are shot. This is the perfect time to do any suspension work, cleanups, ect. |

ahh what the helk you didnt get the jdm 6 speed 4age blacktop?!! that would cost me so much more and people say that those aren't the best gearboxes Toyota has ever made. I thought about using the Corolla G6-R gearbox, think that is the C162, but they doesn't seem to be very strong either. So i'll be using my own C52. -------------------- |

Hmm...the flywheel doesn't seem to be included. That's a bummer. I believe the blacktop flywheel weighs about 5.5 kg (12.2lbs), the 7AFE weighs 9.9 kg (21.8 lbs). Quite a difference! That's a weight difference i'm going to notice for sure!
Maybe i should look for a 4AGE 16V lightweight flywheel set witch clutch, i think all 16V, 20V and 4/7AFE flywheels are interchangable aren't they? -------------------- |

people say they aren't great if you decide to turbo the car. unless you plan on doing so then yea you made good decision. and it uses the same motor mounts bro. the internals are just different!
my buddy on his 88 corolla gts never had to do anything different. just plug and play. and that c160 has helical lsd. your c52 has no lsd boo!! -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

Will the 3SGE throttle cable also fit the 20V? The 3SGE are here enough so i can get one over here.
Does anybody know the OEM part for the 5SFE throttle cable? -------------------- |

Anybody knows if the 7AFE A/C Coompressor will fit the 4AGE BT? I know one of the mounting points is a bit of, but besides that will it work?
I know mine is good for sure, so probably want to use that one. -------------------- |

No... the 7A A/C compressor probably won't bolt up. The blocks are different, accessory bolt holes, etc are different. It may be possible to fit the 7A's brackets and stuff so the compressor will fit, but that's just speculation... meaning I haven't done it and don't recall since it's been like 6-7 years since i've last touched a 4AG.
As for the throttle cable, I believe most from a non-cruise control FWD toyota should fit... but i may be wrong. The 90's tercels have a long throttle cable though and that's what i used in my AE86. Also, the flywheels are different between the 7As and 4As, and vary based on years, and types. Older bigport 4AGs, pre 1990 have a 200mm flywheel, and are 8 bolts. 4A/E/F's (dual cam F head and single cam) of the same generations are 6 bolt 200mm. Later model 4AGs (smallports), 1990 thru to the Silvertop 20V have a 212mm 8 bolt flywheel. 7AFE's all have a 6 bolt 212mm flywheel. Blacktop 20Vs have a factory lightened flywheel, 212mm 8 bolt. However, clutches bolt up the same as the mounting locations are the same. The contact surface of the two types, 200mm and 212mm are slightly different but you can use the 200mm clutch on the 212 flywheel... and even in reverse (212mm clutch on the 200mm flywheel) but I wouldn't recommend it. Use the correct clutch kit. I believe this is across all A series engines regardless of whether it's a 6 bolt or 8 bolt crank. Also, i believe the 2ZZ series clutch kits also fit (212mm so I've heard), but I can't comment on whether the 2ZZ flywheels, which are 8 bolts will fit. I have to see if i cant mount the bracket or otherwise adapt it. I'm not sure about the 4AGE A/C compressor being healthy, it hasn't done anything for a long time yet. Do you happen to know the lenght of the stock 7AFE throttle cable (without cruise control like mine is)? I don't want a tooooooo looooooong cable . Just one that's long enough. I got myself a silvertop flywheel. Blacktop wasn't available and new costed me about $300. It's a kg weight difference between the silvertop (6.9) and blacktop flywheel (5.9), but the pro of the silvertop that it'll easier hold torque in the sacrifice of top en power. I'm going to use an exedy stock 20V clutch and disc on it. For the release bearing i'm going to use a nachi one. Using my own flywheel wasn;t an option. It weighs about 9.9 kg if i'm not mistaken. That's a LOT more then the stock BT one. -------------------- |
