 painting over certian interior parts |

I have seen a lot of celica owners will paint over the plastic around where the air vents are and the center consol, I think it would look really cool black and green, but im wondering how to get started

Its really simple. Get some Krylon Plastic paint. Most walmarts have several colors or more online.
There is no prep work. just pop the vents out, clean and spray. I did like all of the interior parts on my orange car (check profile) Its fairly straight forward. You can spray it with actual "car paint" and clear coat, but thats obviously more expensive, but ill look a little better. Ive had mine done for like a year and its still fine. Wash all of the pieces in warm-hot water with Dawn to pull all the years of oil and grime off. If using Krylon Fusion should be good to go after letting everything dry. Just read the instructions on the can.

get sem products from your local paint supplier.. those are the bomb. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

Thanks for all the helpful advice! do I have to remove everything while painting or can I leave certain parts in the car? im afraid of breaking the vents or any other plastic

If you don't want the interior of your car to smell of paint and be covered in over-spray, then yes.

sand the plastic, clean with acetone (or soap and water), use an adhesion primer, then paint

If he uses Fusion primer isn't needed. It's specifically formulated to adhere to plastic.

I did the same last year, sanded a bit, cleaned with degreaser, plastic primer and the spraycan paint.... but I'm not really satisfied with the results, everything is painted half-assed, so I'm going to do the real thing this year, with paint gun...

It's kinda easy to do, I've not long swapped my standard black blastics over to painted white ones although I'll be giving them a going over.
The best thing I can advise is remove EVERYTHING from the plastics too ie vents, heater parts, clock, fog switches etc then give it all a good going over Just take your time you'll be fine
