The indiglo gauges were installed a month ago in the Celica. I got these gauges from Speedhut. At first the RPM needle was getting stuck at idle and the speedometer needle was getting stuck at 0-10mph. I still have the same problem with the RPM needle. At idle the needle drops below 500 RPMs, which I know that is not accurate. Also, I've noticed that the speedometer needle is getting worst. When I speed up, the needle jumps and stops jumps and stops until I reach the speed that I'm at. On the highway the needle bearly passes 65 mph when I know I'm going much faster than that (about 75-80). When I slow down its the same thing, drops and stops, drops and stops until I reach the speed or I come to a complete stop. Now I'm worried that this might happen to the gas gauge.
My questions are: - Can it get worst, to the point where the needles will not function anymore? - How can I fix this problem? I will appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thank you! |

I installed my gauges and I was having similar problems. My speedometer wouldn't go above 20 mph, so I first took out the gauge cluster and took that apart. I then pulled the little needle covers up a little bit(I kinda pressed mine down hard when I put them back on the first time I installed my gauges, and I inserted some more thin 3M double sided tape in between the gauge cluster and the indiglo gauges. I put it all back together, and now it works just fine.
Out of curiosity, did you take off your needles completely when you installed your gauges? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Actually a shop told me that the needles will break if they were removed. So I had a shop install them. They did not take off the needles. So this is a pretty easy fix? I'm just worried of breaking the needles. Could someone give me instructions on how to take the whole thing apart? Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the instructions. Are you going to replace that gauge? I know that speedhut can sell just the gauges if you don't need the whole kit.

What i did to my gauges which people may not like the idea but, like coomer, i popped off the black cover at the base of the needle and sanded it down a little bit and used some super glue to make sure the covers stayed on. Make sure you dont overdo the glue though
good luck if it isnt fixed already |

You can also widen the hole on the gauges a little but be careful not to damage them. You cannot take off the needles on a celica. However the do slide over your needles. Its usually that the whole for the needle on aftermarket gauges arent quite wide enough a littl ebigger and your golden.
