Hey guys so i'm driving home after getting my tire changed and I hear this obnoxious squeaking in the back, my car then throws a CEL and it drives fine home but I feel like it's almost dragging something. When I got home I could smell like a burning smell, what do you guys think it is? looking for a paper clip now to test the cel.
This is a 1994 celica GT, seemed a little sluggish. I literally JUST got it inspected. no paper clip to check this damn obd1 system but if I remember correctly obd1 to throw a cel it has to be pretty serious usually. My last check engine light was EGR but it's never really messed with the car performance wise, we have visual emissions here. Not sure if it's throwing the same one. But squeaking is driving me crazy, I love driving this thing someone help please. This post has been edited by momentai99: Jun 19, 2013 - 9:56 PM |

Do you have rotors in the back? If so, make sure your caliper isn't locked up. I wouldn't drive it in the condition it's in. Good luck man!

It sat for a few months and did lock up but I thought it was free now. What would cause a caliper to lock up like that randomly if that is the case? it might be time to replace them altogether |

Found out one of the guys yesterday left the car in first and started it with the e brake up, needless to say it made the e brake stick and ruined the brakes on one side. Some brake cleaner and lube and the calipers and everything are unstuck and fine but I can't use my e brake right now.

If Walmart did this, then it's on Walmart to fix it -- at least to replace the parts damaged (definitely e-brake shoes and possibly the rear rotors). Document, and go have a chat with the service manager. If you've got grounds and he/she won't help, escalate. Store managers hate getting calls from corporate, and really hate getting more than one.

They have these dumb kids who dont even know how to drive a stick parking and moving cars, it's moronic. I'll be making some calls today, they acted like it couldn't have been them -.- |
