went to look at some 94 wheels today in a junkyard (the 15 inchs) and it just looked like maybe the wheels were a lil different than my old 97 15 inch wheels.. is it just me or is there a slight difference in the 94-95 and 96-99 15 inchers?

Yes. The early rims were plain whereas the later rims have machined a face and metallic paint.
I don't have any good pictures of my facelift rims but here's one shot.
