I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread listing the names and contact information for the garages that have the knowledge and experience doing the 3s-gte swap in Celicas. Please add an evaluation of the work, cost and timeliness. Although I think we should list everyone we know here, I am looking for someone in the midwest.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

You know... this swap isn't effen rocket science. its an Engine R&R (Removal and Re-installation) with a wiring harness conversion.

If you go to a custom shop your going to pay out of your ass for something a basic shop can do. If you get the wiring harness done before you start, a basic mechanic will charge you much less to do the same thing your asking a performance shop to do. Oh but the performance shop will kindly bend you over their counter first.

If all your renowned for is doing 3SGTE swaps, then i would not be very impressed.

With careful planning and preperation, you can go to the shop, "Hey, I'd like you to swap motors for me, oh and by the way, I have a new harness and ECU for it, All i need you to do is drop the new motor in.

That should be no more than like.... $600 - $800

Mid west eh? I'm in michigan smile.gif and i've done one, and done about 10 wiring harnesses..

It will take him a moment to realize that he's about to make a 180 degree turn at speed, but you will be ready for it. Brace for the g's, and fast heel-toe work.

You just made that sound really really really tempting. God.. why does it have to sound so bad when I ask my dad though? "Hey dad, I wanna put this 200+ hp engine in my 2600lb car. Don't interfere." It wouldn't be so bad if I was like.. at least of driving age, but NOOOO.. lol

get the motor. get the parts. rebuild the motor, get the harness sorted out. Spend some serious time and money getting ready. and its all a cake walk..

any shop you go to will bend you over.... thats thier jops as mechanics. i found 2 in the miami area that i would trust to do the swap.

1. Jamasco auto repair (954-985-9958), costy but experienced. done the swap allot. did my swap pretty good. own 7th gen with 3sgte inside.

2. RT//Motorposrt (305-885-0407)... costy but experienced. they have allot of MR2s outfront and Celica alltracs... i think one of the mechanic owns the 2nd fastest alltrac on alltrac.net (red 4th gen).

It just seems so complicated with all the turbo timers, wiring, and right place to get it from and stuff. I don't know too much, but it just sounds horrifying. Anybody know any shops near KNoxville,TN??

Dude, come on, you are smarter than that. A statement like that just makes you look silly.
