does your heater work?

cruise at about 45mph and turn on the heater. if the heater works, its the temp gauge, if not, the thermostat is stuck open and it would take ages to warm up the car and get a response from the gauge, and it would just cool off when you started driving.

happened to my mazda

it is either the gauge in the dash, or the water temp sensor on the engine.

could also be a short in the wiring, but more than likely i would say its the water temp sensor.
