So I purchased my Celica in March of '03. In April I started to hear this rattling noise when the vehical is reved. When I got to Washington state, I had exhaust put on and it covers it upa bit, but it's about time i fix it. Now, when i have the car is neutral and hits 4-5K on the tac, it rattles. put it in 1-4 gear and it doesn't rattle at all. but it does in 5th as well. I think it's a trans. problem but i don't wanna take it in to get it looked at when there is nothing wrong with it. if anybody knows for sure what it is or had this problem...let me know how ya fixed it...thanks again

check your exhaust/heat shields.. sometimes they only show up when the vibration is up with the revs..

now this may sound somewhat stupid, but i have owned two sixth gen celi's and the same thing has happened on both, and please don't consider me ignorant when it comes to cars either, but on both of them the jack compartment in the back is in the wall of the hatchback, now i am assuming you have a hatch back, well my jack wasn't tightened against the bracket and was loose and rattled allot, and i couldn't find it until i let the car run and listened to everything, it would be worth a check huh? Just turn the jack so it is a bit taller and it will tighten right up, and maybe it will work????

The rattling might be your CAI
Ive noticed some rattling after installing my CAI so I just fabricated a piece to bolt it down to the car to.
The CAI has a tendency to bump or vibrate against things when you rev, check that out man.. smile.gif

well i know it isn't my cai, cause it was happening before i had it installed...and i doubt it's the jack but i'll check...most reasonible answer is either the heat sheilds or trans....but when i find out what's wrong i'll post it so if anybody else gets this problem...it will be solved smile.gif

Yea I got a rattle too. It sounds like its coming from the passengerside door but Then somtimes it sounds like it is coming from somewhere in the lower dash part happens in gear around 2900 rpm every gear. Its so annoying, and I dont know what I should look for.

i also get this annoying rattle.. i plan on tightening or removing heatshields and getting polyeurthane exhaust hangers to see if that helps... i always thought it was the stock heatshield on the manifold but it wasnt the case on mine... so ?? post when u find out

i've got a rattle... I think its transmission related.. it rattles when I have the clutch in and in gear.... but if I put the car in neutral and release the clutch.. it will quiet down.. but still a slight rattle..

it does rattle at start, cold, warm and while driving.. seems to be louder if I downshift or put the car in a lower gear than needed..

any ideas?

thanks!

I had this rattle for a long time until one day when it went away. It was my timing belt. Mine was loud as hell and annoying to the same point. The noise sounded like it was coming from the passenger side door. I hope that helps you guys.
