Will 3sgte adjustable cam gears fit on my 95' 5sfe engine?
Also will a aftermarket 3sgte turbo header fit my 95' 5sfe? I searched the forms and found nothing. Also what camshaft is on the 5sfe engine? I keep hearing about a 294 camshaft? thanks This post has been edited by doory100: Aug 17, 2014 - 9:11 PM -------------------- |

looking to by a intake cam for my 5fse. wondering what I should go with. So far the cheapest I found was delta cams and they can do a 264 cam max for $150 each. Any thoughts on this topic? Anybody have cam upgrades? If so what type and what increase if any did you find?

there is NO 3S-GTE cam you can use in the 5S-FE. they are totally different style heads. that goes for the adjustable gear too.
you can use the turbo manifold. that has been covered over and over. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

it's probably been said somewhere on this forum but i'll show you why the camshafts won't work
As you can see there are 2 slave cam gears connected near the middle of the shaft and there is only one cam gear so you can't adjust it And here's pic i'm borrowing from someone on this forum of a general comparison of the camshafts between a 5sfe head and a 3sge/gte head, notice the 2 post for cam gears where the 5s only has one and the slave cam gears on the 5s also a reason you can't use 3sge/gte camshafts |

so i would be wasting my time getting the cams hard welded and reground to 264 by delta cams?? the said it would increase the power by 15-20 percent. cost $300 for both

Regrind and welding your cams will get you a bit more power.
Webcamshafts 294 grind is just a grind name, and doesnt represent any actual specs on the cam like duration. For a 5s, you have to use 5s cams, which can be customized by people like Delta Cams. You cant use 3s cam gears not because they dont fit, but because they also dont have the right tooth count for the timing belt. However, 2jzge/gte adjustable cam gears have the dame tooth count. The only problem is that the center bore on them is smaller. You will need to take one of them to a machine shop and bore the center out by a mm or two. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold
