Looking at replacing my old 6th gen steering wheel with cruise control with a 7th gen.

My question is will a cruise control fitted 7th gen wheel work without any mods ?

No. It needs to be repinned, which isn't hard. The directions are in the steering wheel swap thread. I have a '98 Celica so I had a 3 post wheel already, but the cruise stalks in the '98-99 are know for falling apart and losing a metal contractor insude the stalk. When I repinned my 7gc stalk, all I could get it to do is turn on and set the cruise, and you set the cruise by pushing the stalk up to "resume." Cancel, accelerate, and resume functions didn't work. Could be that I repinned it wrong, but I followed the directions in the steering wheel swap thread and double checked by comparing to the stalk I pulled out of my '98 wheel. Norberto says there's more to the 7gc stalk than just repinning the wires.

However, I ended up gutting the 7gc stalk to use the contactor in my '98 stalk, and that has been working flawlessly for months. I did the same thing in my Supra- bought a '98-99 stalk, used the contactor from a 7gc wheel, plugged it in and never had a single issue.

Forgive me if none of this makes sense. I'm not a morning person so explaining things doesn't go well for me in the morning.

I did it differently, I used the 7th gen wheel and the 6th gen cruise control switch, just mounted it in a position that works. the pins are different between 6th and 7th gen

Same here.

I can take pics if you like. But it was fairly simple - your biggest hurdle is connecting the airbag from the 7th gen to a 6th gen - you need a little adapter. smile.gif
