 exhaust pipping, safe or NOT-safe ??? |

I'm getting my exhaust piping done on Saturday. I went to the guy who's gonna do it for me, and we lifted the car to see exactly how "I" want the piping to run.
My thing is that i want the piping as straight as possible eliminating all those curves and turns. It's going to be a 3" piping and in order for it to be the way i want it, it would have to run under a lil section of the gas tank. So here's the question. Do you people think it's safe enough to run it under the tank like that or not. Or is there something that i can do to restrict so much heat under the tank that i can still run it that way? So do you have the 3sgte swap? In your profile it says you do and it also says that you already have a 3" exhaust. You will want to run the piping with the groove under your car. There is a path already there. It is straight back, and then it turns by the gas tank and then goes over your rear passenger suspension. This is the only way you can run it. If you go anywhere else it will hit the ground an prolly break b/c it will be wedged against hte ground and car, or you will break something on your car. No it's not safe to run it under the tank.

yeah. I finished the swap about 2 months ago. I've been running my 2.5" exhaust piping for now. And i also know that there's a section where it's supposed to go arround the tank, but i was just wondering if i could eliminate that turn, and just go straight from there.
But if it's not safe enough under the tank, then i wont even try it. |

U'd probably want the fumes away from the cabin as much as possible...plus inspection will def. be looking for SOMETHING back there.
Make sure u still use the rubber connectors, as they are shock absorbers also. -------------------- |

Its not the only way you can run it I have 2.5 in piping and mine does not go over the rear suspension. I don't know how they did it but I have only one bend in my cat back. and that is right off of the cat, it curves about 45 degress and goes straigh back to the stock muffler location. |

Mine pretty much runs just like that. DOES NOT go over the rear suspension. It WONT fit, thats what my mechanic said. BUT yeah i only have 1 bend at about 45 degrees also.

you have a lot of options when it come to running the pipping after the cat... you could make and L and have it goung out before the wheelwell .. as for going right over the gas tank i wouldn't do it be that just me... and i really don't know how safe that would be ... but just keep the pipe at least and inch and half away from anything that can get damaged by extream heat

I have it going under the rear suspension. There shouldn't be any problem having it go under the rear suspension.
