Hi there
I'm having ongoing troubles with my 95 Jdm 3s-ge auto celica convertible. I've just had to have a new head gasket , with cam belt and water pump done at the same time. The head was fine and it runs well again now. Since it came back I noticed an intermittent gearbox issue, literally from the day after picking it up. Nothing has been done with the transmission, though I changed the fluid when the problem started anyway. It seems to sometimes be slightly slow to pick up the gear if the revs are low, and on one occasion felt like it might even stall, but that has not happened again. It also does not change above 2nd gear until fully warm, meaning I'm going along at 3500 revs for a mile at least in the morning. When warm it's much better but can still be a little jerky when pulling away at junctions, sometimes it's fine all day. The garage (who I know well and trust) say they did not touch the transmission. I wondered whether it could be an ECU problem, like it's not adjusted properly to the changeover, but I'm not sure that could be right. The puzzle is that it started when it came back from having the Head Gasket done but has nothing to do with the work they did. But there's lots I don't know about this stuff, so over to you all.
