So, I bought a '94 Celica (check my profile for pics) 2 years ago. I was fresh out of highschool, got me a small part time job, and purchased one of my most prized possessions. Not only is this car the largest and most important decisions I have ever made, but this is what fuels my passion for cars. Finally owning one. I've had my first girlfriend with this car. And my first break up. I've gone out on stupid night racing this thing up and down backroads with friends. I've also spent a bit money on the car. This car was bought (arguably overpriced) with 50000 miles on the odo. Since then, I now have 64500 and have completely replaced all of the original brake lines, replaced the original plugs and wires (how did they survive???), new distributor since my battery came loose and broke it off one unfortunate night, upgraded the speakers, bought some rims + tires, and last but not least - the exhaust needs to be looked at because it's just so old.
Now where am I going with all of this? I am absolutely in love with my car. This to me is the longevity to which I came from. With this thing being made in Nov. of 93, and me being born on the last day of 95... This car is the embodiment to of all that I have come from. I grey up with young parents, and they personified what the 90's was, at least to me. Everything good about being a kid, I see it in this car. I have an obsession with the WRC, and yeah, I know this is nothing compared to a ST205. But when I watch hour long compilations of the Toyota Racing team ripping the ST205 in castrol colors... I feel like a child dressed as his favorite superhero whenever I step into my car. Every time I see it, it's like I can feel it nodding back in acceptance. It knows that I'm going to be it's last owner, and I don't say that with regret. She knows that I am going to treat her as well as she treats me. And when the day comes... in the distant future... It'll be time to put her to rest. No amount of comprehension can recall the legacy that I would have experienced with this car. This is where my question comes into play. I know that I am going to say goodbye, like the last episode of a TV show that ran for 15 years. I know for a fact that I can never "cheat" on my Celica and buy another brand. We all know that Toyota doesn't make anything like this anymore. If anything, Toyota has gotten exponentially better than they were in the 90's, but even now - The GT86 is not the answer I'm looking for. I want to keep buying from the 90's. Everything about it intrigues me to the highest degree. Ashtrays left and right. Rolley windows. The driver-centric design. Some may argue that the MKIV Supra did everything better, and they're right. But there's something tediously empowering about owning the "shadow car". The 5th and 6th gen Celicas make you work for your money. A Supra will always be the God, but who will be his sheep? The Celica is a sheep. There's nothing wrong with that, a ST205 can gladly take the black sheep role. Sheep provide wool, warmth, and food for the shepard. I don't think I can ever give up this ideology. That's why I now simply ask... Can we, and sheep like myself, live out our lives like this forever? 1990-1999 MR2's, Celicas, Supras. Will they become a relic? I don't think I have a choice. I can only prepare. I just need a crushable, a whip, and a worn leather jacket. TL:DR - Will 1990's Toyotas hold up to the test of time and always be available to the right people, thus living my entire life to the fullest? -------------------- - Diet

When driving around these days I look at the other cars on the road and see less and less cars older than 1999.
I am not sure how long it will take to phase out parts for our car, but I figure since, its toyota, such a large brand, and the celica/camry/corolla's having a large amount of interchangeable parts. I cant really see there being any problems for another 20 years or so. I wont be getting rid of my car at all as I know some other members have the same plan. -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

No reason yours can't last another 20+ years with it being lower mileage and if you take care of it. There are cars from the early 1900's still out and around in driver or collector condition, of course you'll rarely see them since they're just a safety hazard in modern traffic but I see cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's almost every weekend. Plenty of 80's, 90's, and early 00's cars out and about every day where I live but rust is also a non issue. Even though I don't have my Celica anymore I have my Firebird which is a '96, honestly there're not many cars made in the last 10 or so years I'd really want. My dream car is still a McLaren F1, I'd take it over a Veyron any day.

I'm also a 90's Toyota Lover! I own a 90 Alltrac and a 94 GT with V6 1MZ-FE swap. I honestly think these cars don't look out of place on the roads with brand new vehicles. Timeless is often overused, but minus the popup headlights on my Alltrac it will still look awesome 20yrs from now:

It's nice to see the responses I got from y'all. I definitely have been eyeing some 91 Supras, it's nice to plan 20 years ahead I guess LOL. And at that point, my Celica could sit in a garage as part of a slowly growing collection since it probably won't be worth anything in 2036. Damn am I optimistic.
