Hi! I'm close to completing a rebuild of a 5sf-e engine. The dipstick tube fits loosely into its hole in the block. I see that getting it at just the right angle is important, so I've temporarily installed the exhaust manifold and brackets. My Toyota manual doesn't specify the proper way to attach the dipstick tube and my online research has turned up a several options. Does anyone here have any specific information or suggestions? Thanks! smile.gif

Is it missing an o-ring where it inserts into the block?

Should just be an O-ring, and it ties down somewhere nearby to keep the line stiff.

there is no O-ring on either the 3S or 5S. the tube is pressed into the block. if its loose you need to replace the tube
