I have my car all torn apart trying to install my short shifter. It is a replica of the TWM shifter. The only thing I don't know is how to get the stock shifter out of the white thing that holds it up. confused.gif I know the TRD shifter comes with it but this one doesn't. If anybody has any idea on what to do please let me know as soons as possible.

I got the shifter assembly out with no problems, I just don't know how to take that apart. It looks as if the top piece is hinged somehow but there is no bolts or anything else to take it apart.

go to the parts store and pick up a haynes manual, they actually have a pretty good exploded view of the shifter assembly.

I have one of those and it just says to remove the retaining bolts and the shift lever will come right out. Unfortunately there are no retaing bolts that I can see so I'm not sure what they are talking about.

and there are no retaining clips like what mac was saying? if not than i am at a loss, just be fearless and agressive with it and you will figure it out eventually, otherwise i'm sure if you took it to a dealership or even a mechanic they could show you how to take it apart. sorry that i am no help on this one, i haven't gotten my short shifter yet.

I see a rivet going through it but that is the only thing that I imagine could work. confused.gif
