I think we should, since we have info on about every other type of engine work you can do, we may as well throw this into the mix so people have an idea what is possible and how much time and effort it will take, too bad it will take away from all the work everyone else will have to do to figure out the project that was kinda a nice part about the st turbo, but yeah if you can do it I think all of us with st's would love to hear all the advice you have.

I think thats an awesome idea Zip. Not just because I eventually want to do mine, but if you browse the boards, the topic comes up a bunch. If the majority of the people who have completed the project are worried about a how to taking away from the work of research, even a good listing of what went wrong (blown engines, timing problems, etc etc etc) would be cool too. Just my $.02

I think its a great idea. I'm planning to turbo mine this summer and a how-to would really help out just to make sure i don't forget anything. Thanx for suggesting it.

I think a how to would be very helpful for those, like myself, who needs a little instruction. Also, roughly how much would the whole process cost? Thanks.

Yeah, if I knew it was going to be this expensive, I would've just done a 3S-GTE swap. Obviously, I wanted something that I could do quick...instant gratification...so I turbocharged it...and I'm close or past the $6,000 mark just buying little ****s.

i have started to collect my pictures from my recent motor swap...so far its coming along. i got to drive it last night with my smaller turbo and new clutch. its AWESOME! to say the least. it sounds and feels much more stronger, and solid.. next on the list is oil pressure gauge, oil temp, oil cooler and fuel pressure gauge. also before its is road worthy again i will have a wideband o2 to mointor her full time. still some more work to due before i drive her home and more on to the next mods for her...
about the how to: please post and let me know what area you guys would like a little more indepth info. this way while im in the garage i can get more exact pictures for everyone for a visual along with the write up. i have alomst all papers so i might be able to include a more personal cost, and supply many part numbers & supplies too. |
