Ok,

So they have MPEG videos done up like music videos on the web of Supras, Civics, and even Volkswagons!!! So my idea is i want everyone with a Digital Video Camera to take video of, Burn outs, Street Racing, Inside, driving, night pics, shifting, fly bys, anything that would look insane on a video of Celicas! When you finish it load it into your computer "UNEDITED" e-mail it to me @ RDRULESFAN@aol.com as a *.dv file "DV" Digital Video, so i can use my Hollywood effects maker and make a killer video!!! I am also looking for names of the video to be called, so i am open to suggestions?!

Thanks guys i hope to make this an unbelievable video, so we can have more credibility for our cars!!!

Isn't the .dv format considerably larger than any other 'typical' format? Can't you convert just about any non-proprietary (non-.wmv/.qt) file into a .dv with your program? This would make it a lot easier on people if we could submit .mpg's and .avi's, particularly those encoded in DivX for lower filesize.

The program i have is ment to go from the Digital Video camera to .DV format it is a weird program but if anyone knows of a program that does conversions of video files?

Also another option is to send me your "8mm" video tape and then you wont have to e-mail me a copy!

If you do e-mail please make sure you include "VIDEO FILE 6GC" just so it doesnt get spammed!!!

Thanks again guys,
Ryan

Is your intent to distrubute this on the web? If so, no one needs to turn a video in to you larger than 320*240 and half quality- since when you eventually compress it for web streaming it'll probably be worse looking than that. There's no need to try and get people to send you .mov files in DV codec format- that takes up 3.6 MB a second!

Also, even if people sent you their footage- you sound like you have a digi 8mm- which isn't that common anymore. Most likely you'd get a lot of mini-DV tapes, hi8 tapes, C-VHS, etc etc etc. A format nightmare if you don't have free access to a conversion facilitiy.

Finally, in regards to people emailing you them- whats the max attachment size on your AOL address? I doubt it's more than 5 MB.

Maybe it's best to wait a little while, until club 6gc gets organized. We were talking about a very organized system of sending digi video across the country.

This sounds like a neat idea. DJMC, if you find this is really difficult I would love to make one. But yea, it would make more sense to at least zip the files before you send them biggrin.gif Just a thought.

i'll try to take some video of my car.

I hope it ends up as good as this supra video.

Supra Meet 2001

NOTE: you might as well just right click and "save target as". I'm taking it down tomorrow. It's a big file.

I'll have the digicamcorder at Pigeon Forge again this year.

And for distrobution, AIM is what we used for last years PF vids. I'd just send it to one person at a time, and once they got it they would start sending.

i've talked to coomer about this.... at least for locals & meets.... if people have a video camera (or i can use mine... but unfortunately mine only picks up mono sound...) and i have a seperate computer (using old technology, but still works) that has a ATI all-in-wonder pro... which means i have both audio and video inputs into the computer, and programs to pull it onto the computer

OK OK OK, here is the solution, i have a brand new SOny Digital camera, which i use to do Wedding DVDs on, so if you guys want your rides to be in the video make a DV file or MPEG, and ill try to convert the MPEG but i dont really know how. And sound isnt a big issue cause its going to have high energy music in some parts! Also if u cant Zip the DV file put it on a CD-R and "MAIL" it ya know it was once used in the 20th century its where you place a stamp on something and send it out through a thing called the USPS. Really barbaric from e-mail....hahahaha. But send me the CD-R and i will load it in. This shall be an amazing Finished product when done!!!
Hope to have all your cars when done!
