I have an oil pressure gauge, and a water tempurature gauge, both mechanical, and i was wondering exactly how you install them. For the oil pressure, from what i read and searched, i find the sending unit, and use a t-fitting off of it. Where exactly is this? ive read that it is near the exhaust manifold (5SFE) but im not sure exactly. Also, where do i run the water temp sensor to?
Thanks
-mike

Edit: another Q, with the oil pressure line, it says to slide the hex nut on the nylon tubing, then a ferrule, and then tighten the nut onto the engine fitting... it seems like the tubing would want to just slide out (especially if it is under pressure) will tightening down the nut keep the tubing secure to the fitting?

Where is the oil sending unit located on the 5s? And do i have to drill and tap the temp sensor into an outlet, or is there somewhere where i can just screw it in?
thanks

i'd have to look for it to find it... but on an A series motor it's located on the exhaust side (when looking at exhaust side) on the left.... right in the middle of the block..... the oil sensor is roundish in shape and goes into what i believe is a 1/4" hole

mike, thats correct as far as how to connect that line. what happens is when you tighten the nut, it smashes down on the ferrule which mushrooms and seals. There usually only good for one tightning. Dont use teflon, use a little bit of silcone
both on the t and the gauge. Im getting ready to hook up my gauges too. If worse comes to worse as far as water goes, get a small piece of pipe(alum or stainless) same od as id of hose, weld a not for your sending unit, and cut the hose and put the pipe in between there. this will now be your temp sender reader. You can also t a t to get an extra line for both oil pressure and oil temp. Hope this helps
