Yeah, they do...but they are in such a crappy position, it makes shifting hard. They should pull out right under the console/armrest thing.

Mine just sorta falls forward when I brake hard or go down hill...Celica's are not known for good cup holder placement/ functionality.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

All the time. When I deliver pizza full time I can easily find $5+ if I don't clean the car for a couple days.

its always fun going through a toll on a long trip. you gotta take your drink out of the cup-holder and put it between your legs, then reach over lift the storage compartment and somehow manage to take out the change you need, all while you're holding the steering wheel and watching the road out of the corner of your eye. takes some coordination wink.gif

There is a change holder?? I've had my car for 2 years i never knew that. I also find that if you take the ash tray out, the hole is a perfect holder for drinking boxes.

damn i'm shocked so many people didn't know we had coin holders.. and for a good cupholder you can go at wal-mart and get one of those cup holders that you hook onto the air vents and hange it on the vent next to your window.. cup sit real nice right there out the way of everthing ..

i think he is talking about the flaps in your trunk that open up. There is a plastic door to access the inside of the body panels there and store stuff. My right side has the jack in it. The left side is empty. So HB's just have one of these Mac? or none maybe?

Apparently they are under the cupholders. You have to lift the arm rest to get to it?

What you've called the ash tray, that holds business cards or credit cards or whatever. It has little slots for it.

If you got the rediculously expensive upgrade to the padding on the arm rest then shifting is easy even with a supersized drink. I don't know about where you guys live but our supersized drinks are huge but have a tiny little bottom so they fit in cupholders.
The space next to the cigarette lighter is for...cigarettes. But I put my remote in there even though I smoke. I don't smoke in my car or my house.

i have my side mirror controls next to the cigarette lighter because my windows are roll down. so theres no pocket there.

carls jr is stupid. their small drinks fit. even the large cups fit because it tapers down at the bottom, but the medium doesnt fit?? what idiots thought that one up?? then mcdonalds gives u some 2 inch high recycled cardboard cup holder so u put it on the passenger side floor. the minute u brake they fly out of the thing and now u have a pool of coke soaking into the carpet mad.gif

LOL - for real - that happened to me before they started giving you the small bottomed cups with the huge top.
That took like a month to dry up and girls were like "ewww what's with your floorboard?"
Kinda kills the pimp factor of the car. Does anyone else agree that the 6gc has the most beautiful enterior ever? Mines all leather and I'm in love. Everytime I'm in traffic I just look around me and smile. biggrin.gif

I have never, ever used cupholders in any car I drive. When I'm driving, I'm driving. When I'm drinking, I'm stopped.

my cup holders prevent me from super sizing my meals @ fast food places. I always go for the medium cause the medium will fit in the cup holder lol

but i mostly use it as my cell phone holder!!

Thats pretty easy to fix. I had to do it to my '95.
I really don't see myself writing up a how to for that but all you have to do is build up a little superglue in layers at a time over the now worn down bumps on the sliding cupholder part. The bumps are how they lock onto the corresponding bumps on the center console peice. You may have to build them up a little too.
I did and it worked great until I sold the car 2 years later. biggrin.gif

ya i use it has a card holder, which im sure is waht those slots are for. fits perfectly. though i use the card as an interior window scraper. my old cupholder is actually a seaweed container. its a square with a screwoff top, and i descovered that a cup fits perfectly into it, and that the container also fits into the arm rest storage area pretty well too. its also out of the way when i shift.

yeah I found out about then within a few days (maily because I was looking everywere for everything) the cup holders suck though , there not bad for a can of soda, or a small dring, but anything bigger and shifting is hard (even with my short shifter) I usualy dont get a drink at fast food places any more, because they dont fit, however you can wedge them between the door and the seat, a large will stay there pretty good untill you hit the breaks, but if you hold your elbow on the lid you can keep it from sliding as well as hold the wheel.

I found the coin slots a few months ago and maid a thread here on it too smile.gif got about the same responces. its a pretty cool little place but 3 quarters each? donsent make sence.
I got an old pic:
user posted image
its right under the lip of the cup holder tray, the 2 little slots. thats also before I got the ash tray thing too, I just tossed em coins in there.

If you open your arm rest there are 3 little grooves (on the right side right on the lip of the armrest compartment). When I get my camera back I will take a picture so all you who have never seen it can finally see the light..

You guys should see Jaws4God's cup holder. He somehow modified it so that the piece for the cup holder extends into the back of the car and you can put the drinks there without them getting in the way. It would be harder to acess but I guess it works.

If he ever gets on and reads this maybe he will post a pic.

For me...

cupholder only used for small coffee cups from Tim's. If i have a bigger drink, my cup holder then is 1 of 2 places..the gf's hand, of if the gf isnt around, stuffed between the door and my seat.

Storage spot beside cig lighter is holding my twin outlet lighter(for now) and holds my parking card for school

Ashtray- coin/mic crap holder...and my remote for my cd player fits in perfectly.

American's won't know what "Tim's" is
(well maybe some)

Tim's = Tim Horton's (Canada's Dunkin Donuts)

now i found the coin holder... that is on the left side below the armrest... (maybe cos its a RHD car?).

the ashtray is a perfect fit for any king size of 20 cigarette box... its made for it... and the lighter is but on the back and the shape of console is just for staying there

You know, it wasn't until this year I realized that there was that coin slot under the drink holders....haha. I remember trying to figure out a way to sneak a RCA to 1/8" headphone jack out of my center console to use for IPods, guitar, or plugging in my laptop (when it worked). If only I knew that bastard was there I would've fed the wire that way instead.... biggrin.gif

This is a good post, it's kind of like getting re-aquainted with your car 101. We want to look beyond stock so often that we dont always realize whats already there. wink.gif
