I have coilovers on my Celica (Dropzone). I like the handeling, like the look, I know what to do about the poping noise, BUT IS there anything I can do about the ride being so bouncy?? Anyone have input?? Thanks!

there is not much you can do about it, sept get new springs. i dont know much about dropzone, but i have Vaos XR2's there very good, and very cheep.

Well stock struts aren't meant to handle the spring rates of lowering springs/coil overs. So while had the coilovers put in you should have had struts put in along with them.

Dropzone coilovers are cheap. You get what you pay for, and in this case you got cheap coilovers with a low spring rate. You will get a lot of bounce.

Thanks for all the replys!! So, If I get better coilover springs they will ride smoother?? I can't stand bouncing so much, but the bouncing is comming from the stiffness of the spring I think is that correct?? Its not bouncy be cause the spring is soft, I can literally feel every bump i hit! Will new coil springs do the job?

if you get GC's i think it will ride alot smoother. I have the dropzones as well and they are bouncy, good thing i don't drive my car everyday. new struts will make it a little smoother, but because of the stiff spring rate of the coil-over springs it will still bounce alot. any lowering springs will be an improvement in ride quality. adam -------------------- MISS THE CELI, BUT...

Just a word of advice, I've had the GC's on my stock shocks for more than a yr and I just took them off this past saturday (May 15th) and the sleeve seized itself onto the shock housing. When I looked at the other side there was a crack about 1" long going from the very bottom of the sleeve to the top.
If I were going to get new Coilovers, I'd definitely go with something that's a complete assembly. I wouldn't risk anyones safety with them splitting the way mine did.  Just a heads up. |

Theres a difference between bumpy and bouncy!! If its bumpy its because they are stiff because you probably have it lowered significantly, correct? Which means you will feel BUMPS in the road alot more. Bouncy is literally bouncing, like up and down up and down, that doesnt look to be the case. |

I have a good idea, it helped with me a lot so it should for you. When you take your stcok suspension apart there are hard rubber pieces on the strut called "bumper stops". I would highly encourage you to cut them in half and put it back onto the stru with your aftermarket coil-overs. Since im so low i use to bottom out my actual strut until i put these in and, plus the rides smoother. So good luck.

hmm, i am terrible at explaining ****, but here it goes:
your struts are meant to handle oem springs. they weren't designed for springs or coilovers, which tend to kick up the spring rates a bunch. the struts are capable of properly dampening the lower spring rate springs, but once you bump the spring rates up, the struts cant handle them anymore. basically, be sure to pair up your springs with the proper struts for the application. if you are looking for more aggressive springrates, don't skimp on the struts. bleh, everyone just buy the koni's and be happy with them  if you end up blowing them (which is pretty hard to do), you can send them away to a company to get them rebuilt and able to take 500-1500 custom spring rates! why you'd want that for daily driver...i dunno.
