My girlfriend just ordered me a set of 8" Kicker RMB8 Mid-Bass speakers for our anniversary, because mine are blown and sound crappy. So, these should be more than enough to take the old speakers' place. smile.gif

Only one question to those who have them installed, like chucho- Are you still using factory wiring from the stock amps to power the new speakers sufficiently, or did you opt to use an aftermarket amp instead? Obviously ill get more presence if i used an aftermarket amp to power them, but i just wanted to see who was using what, and what your opinions are.

Thanks.

I am soon to have the same speakers in my car (was guna put subs but was encuaraged not to lol) I spoke to chucho a he explained to me that the stock stuff was not enought to power the rmb8's. While they are in his car i guess they arent really hooked up. However soon he will have an amp powering them (some time this week?) PM him or have him post and he should be able to give you detail.

Im planing to go with a 2 chan (150x2) as for swaping out stock wiring i probably will do that too after i get instructions on how too. Sorry chucho but i was kinda planing on asking you how you set ur up lol. So please post lol share the wealth man.

i am also getting 8"s one of these days. I am not sure how muck power I will be running to them though. I should have them some, I hope. I will need another amp so I can put them thought I will get it first. That will give three amps for my system.

when i hooked them up to the existing wiring the drivers did not move. But my factory harness was cut before i got the car so I dont know if the wires were actually connected. But your RMS that your CD player is producing is not enough power for the kicker RMB8s. I'm hooking up a KX350.2 which should work out nicely. They will be hooked up Wed. Get a nice 2 channel amp and hook 'em up and they should sound great. But i'll repost after i have all my stuff finish.

Alright thanks guys. I have a 10" Polk sub in my trunk right now powered by a bridged Blaupunkt amp, or around 150w x 2 if were to use for the 8"....that amp is tiny and its under my passenger seat so maybe ill just get a more powerful amp for the 10" and run the 8"s off of my existing amp.

Chucho, I wasnt sure if the factory amps and stock wiring gauge was strong enough to make use of a high-end speaker, but i think I'll just amplify them as soon as I get them installed. Good luck with yours and let us know how it sounds. wink.gif

How will the stock amps in my car affect the way i set up my system on the 8" rmb8's (i have that 8 speaker system with a stock amp as well)

How would i wire up the amp and speakers now?

The rmb8's may or may not have enough power from the amps for the stock 8" speakers....so i reccomend you try that first.

I know that I'll probably amplify mine with my existing subwoofer amp and run two amps instead, but ill try hooking it up to the factory wiring first just to see how it sounds first.

Ill probably amp them over time but let me know if factory amp and wiring can power the rmb8's. I think ill head down to the shop sometime this week and pick me up my pair and try hooking them up.

Just put the two rmb8's in today. Using the stock amp that came with the premium 8 speaker system i was able to power the rmb8's. Even with the low power stock amp the mid bass speakers sound great. Im not sure if 6th gen with no stock amp can power them however if they can it probably wont sound as good. Just thougth id pass that info on.

N e way i cant wait to get and amp powering them man will it sound nice.
