That little black box is the transformer. As long as the connectors fit then you can use just about any transformer.

I have the tranformer and controller that is in the second link above. I just wanted to add that if you get that one you have an option to have a TRD emblem on the controller that is lit up in indiglo.

is that transformer plug right to the three female end on the gauges???
