I have a 1997 Celica ST and I was just wondering how I would know if I have an ST or an STX. I have a few options that dont come with an ST, such as a black leather interior, different wheels, etc.

It should have a ST-X badge, no ST-X badge no stx car. Possible that unless your the single owner, the previous owner could of replaced the things you mentioned.

No. The original owner showed me the options that came with the car when they bought it. Leather interior was on it, but its not possible to get leather on an ST, thats why im wondering. Also, no STX badge though. Did they even make an STX after '93?

lol, yea, it's the AWD version of the ST. You know, STX, GSX eclipse, same thing, the STX is just faster! (joking to people that don't know our cars are FWD and slow)

You have the Limited Edition. All ST's in 1997 were the last production models of the ST so they came standard with just about every option. Only 3500 Limited Edition models were produced and quite a few of them are on this site. Basically, what you have is the GT options with an ST engine.

I think the 97's were all limited edition or special edition or some sort of edition... same as the 96 models...

Take a look at my profile. Right on the fenders of both sides of the car there is a little Limited Edition badge.

Check out the pictures in my profile. I have an STX. And yes, it is exactly the same as a normal ST, except for the badging. I think all STX's were coupes, though. I haven't seen any hatchbacks with the badging.
