Ok, so for awhile I have had a check engine light on, an sence I was gunna swap my engine I said screw it.. but the swap never happend, An Its time to fix it, I checked the code an its 71, egr system, So I figured its the egr valve, cause i have 139800 miles .. I went to autozone to pick on up, an they said it was going to be $155, an I was Like WHAT.. I didnt think it was going to be so much. Any one that has replaced it how much have you paid, and from where.. Thanks for any info or help..

Ok, not that any one cares, but I figured out it wasnt the egr valve. As I just bought the book, I was looking through it at the pics, not havign the vacum peace to test if the egr is good or not, i was looking at the pics. It showed poping off the top of the vacum sensor or somthing for the egr system, an a lil filter .. I poped that off an xcheck the filter an it was dirty an coated in black, So i cleaned that out, Also the biggist thing i think, was the tube going form the egr vacum sensor to the egr valve was riped or toar what ever you prefer... But after doing that, then properly re-setting it, It was cleared an been running good with no problems... thanks for the help guys. biggrin.gif

I got the haynes, The main reason I got it, is because it works for both mine and my moms car.. an $15 bucks has already seemed to make it worth it, ya know.. but the thing i really dont like about it, Is its not really direct, Like it shows taking apart like the 4th-5th gen not the 6th, but for me it works cause I only need an idea of what there talking about. but for some-one thats still learning, it might be hard.. and somtimes on the break aprts describing part os the eninge or such, It skips over the 7a-fe .. witch sucks even more for me.. but You can still figure it out.

Ok well this really sucks.. I was at my buddies yesterday building a shed, as I was leaving I backed out of his driveway, witch has a very nice steap drivway with a nice bump at the bottom, And I pretty made bottom out an skid on it, but then I looked as I got into the road my check engine ligfht just came back on. So Im guessing the comp figured out the egr is still bad, or i just messed somting up. Tomorrow Im goign to check the code again, But I have a feeling its the egr.. SO, who ever replaced theres, where did you get it an how much. Thanks alot.
