Im kinda new to this topic of exhausts and performance since my car is basically hopeless...Dam ST...lol...but i was wonderin if somebody can give me advice on what exhaust i can get. I dont want the entire catback cuz that would just be too expensive, but i want it just for looks and a nice sound, but not one thats too too loud. What would be some good brands. Thanks

Tanabe Medallion!
You can hardly hear it until you hit the gas and get it up to about 2500-3000 RPMs
As for piping, get a muffler shop to do custom 2.5" pipes.

But i guess that didn't answer your question did it?
Off the Tanabe website it is like 500-600 i think. I think Ebay has them for like 350-450.

Check out Evilspeeds catback...he designed them specifically for 6th gen sts. He uses magnaflow mufflers; he's a mech. engineer and races his car in autox, so id imagine he knows his stuff.

I'd imagine that he may not want that because he said he wants an exhaust not only for sound, but for looks as well, and you wouldn't be able to see the exhaust at all from the rear of the car. wink.gif

the catback system won't pop up on my computer for some reason. I wonder how much louder just the pipe would make my car.

hmmm......i was thinking about using a Magnaflow muffler and some custom piping if i do mine.....and if the Evilspeeds is based on that, maybe ill go that route after all. BTW, Magnaflows are around 65-70 bucks, and dont sound ricey at all, and supposedly free up your exhaust flow pretty good. wink.gif

i think it would be cool if people with different exhausts could record the sound they make from idle to redline, cuz that would help convince me more into what do look at getting. because people can say that like the tanabe sounds cool, but i might not like the sound it give. it would just be nice to have an idea of what you're getting before you drop a few hundred bucks into it.

I would, but I don't have a clue how to do it. Don't hate me for this, but my car sounds very much like the supra on the F&F when it's pulling out of the garage for the first time.
