Welcome to the site! I think the GT4 is better because its a more practical car. More passenger room, storage, etc... But don't know which is better performance wise... I know the others on the site could tell ya wink.gif

welcome to the site

as for the gt-four vs mr2 question. I think it would be pretty hard for most of us to make this judgement call as we don't have gt-four's this side of the pond frown.gif

from driving mr2s they are awesome cars but my gut instinct tells me I would prefer the gt-four. turbo, awd, with the 6g looks to boot... whats not to love?

Yeah, it's close. The MR2 is RWD tho; which sometimes you prefer over AWD depending on what you're going to do. But the GT4 is AWD.. you get my meaning. smile.gif

Also, the MR2 comes with targa tops (which leak constantly I hear) while the GT4 only comes with a sunroof.

The GT4 holds 4 people, the MR2 does not.

On the MR2 you can get dual exhaust that WORKS! smile.gif

the T-top thing is kind of a myth... alot of them have it, but its because of poor maintanence more than a chronic problem, if people let their cars sit outside for long periods of time the seals tend to get brittle and crack. mine has no leak problems.

personally my view:
MR2 = race car, its a purpose built vehicle
GT4 = anything you want it to be

so to sum it up, the GT4 is the multi purpose car, it can do what you want and then some. the MR2 you better have a plan for and modify it (or not) towards that plan, otherwise you will end up with a headache.

Thanks for clearing that up boosted; I had kept hearing that it was a constant problem; like you'd buy the car in great shape but the t top would leak; and then you'd replace the seals.. and the t-top would leak.. etc

lip skirts my friend... alot cheaper and still look better than Veilside.

I would 100% hands down pick the GT4. I'm in love with the Mister2. However, its a 2 seater RWD go fast car. The Celica GT4 is a 2+2, storage holding, good-looking, go fast car. Both use the same engine (3SGTE) so thats really not a difference. GT4 if all year, MR2 if you picking up a weekender for the summer.

Good do I miss my GSX, AWD burnouts are the best frown.gif

Oh Well.... I got UNDERSTEER NOW!

i was hooking up just as well if not better than the AWD cars at the last autocross. i love Mid engine with LSD smile.gif my buddy travis who has an alltrac was getting GREAT launches too, though on the track his tires were rolling over on the sidewall a bit b/c hes still running the factory 15s with pretty used tires. the WRX guys were impressed with 2 cars a decade old doing so well smile.gif go toyota!

Who said that you can't have a dual exhaust on a GT4 that works?

With the MR2 you have perfect dual exhaust- not so with the GT4 if you set it up. The best you can do is still flawed.
